    Land O Matic was used in Cessna advertising when the C172 first came out. With nose wheel rudder was no longer required 😂. PA-28 landing advantage over the cessna is due mainly to the oil shock absorbers on all three legs imho.

    Hi Kevin, assume you are from Canberra. This may interest you, it is a well run syndicate with a really nice aircraft. Rate is $220 an hour WET.     The calculator says 10mins/60x350=58kwh. 58/0.8=73kwh battery. A 73kwh battery will not drive a car this big and heavy 1000 km.     Yes the only maintenance difference between a modern well design ICE car and the EV is the engine oil, filter, air cleaner and serpentine belt. EVs have cooling systems for the battery and gears, many ICE cars now have sealed for life transmissions. All the other stuff is the same.

    One problem with ethanol, made from wheat or corn etc or bio jet fuel, made from canola or soybeans etc is the fuel versus food debate. A 200ha or 500 acre Australian broad acre crop paddock will yield about 2 tons per ha with canola. A ton of canola seed will yield about 400 litres of oil, the other 60% is a useful high protein animal feed, nothing is wasted. So our 200ha paddock will produce 160,000 litre of jet fuel per year plus the animal feed. 160,000 l is enough fuel for a 17 hour flight in a 777. Do we have enough paddocks?

    Flew this morning to check out the farm and flood in Lachlan river at Gooloogong. Has been raining every week this winter so water everywhere and with harvest fast approaching never a dull moment in farming. 😁

    If you have the traffic information then adjust your flight path to avoid the conflict. When driving and we don't talk to the other driver if conflict is imminent. As an avid watcher of dashcam some drivers do try to talk to the other driver, it never works.

    I would not be blaming either pilot at this stage, we don't know what if any plan was in place for the fly by. There were at least three single engine aircraft in a loose trail formation in addition to the b17.

    If the conflicting traffic is 5000m away by all means give the aircraft call sign. 2000m or less replace the call sign with a recommendation, Conflict 3 o'clock high distance 400 meters, recommend descending left turn. We can all work out the solution instantly whilst siting at a desk, flying there will be the startle factor, passenger talking on the intercom etc.

    Relies on aircraft sending and receiving mobil data to and from a ground station. ADSB works directly between aircraft with zero latency. It is the only real solution.

    Last century while driving my VR commodore on a quiet country road there was a loud bang and shock wave. Stopped and found a 200mm x 50mm piece of metal had penetrated the rear foot well. As a truck driver I instantly recognized it as coming from a 8.25r22 steel truck rim. The front tyre of the VR must have kicked it up and presented it at the perfect angle. Fortunately no one was in the back. My thoughts are continuing to drive with punctured, blown tyres is not acceptable. Well done to the camera person. It would be nice if there were many many more places for trucks to pull over.

    The tacho on a Rotax 582 is driven from a single coil in the alternator, there are 8 other coils to generate electricity. A permanent magnet spins around the out side motorcycle style.

    Facthunter, every experienced thinking pilot is always aware of the energy state of their aircraft and what control input is needed to increase or reduce said energy state for the next whatever time frame of flight. I don't think that is what they were talking about in the video. As I said they did not explain the concept.

    After watching the vid a second time, one theme appeared to be "control energy". They did not explain this concept. Have been flying for 39 years now and it is a new one for me, perhaps it means FLY CORRECT AIRSPEED. Who knows. Except for broken aircraft or really freaky weather (both rare) loss of control on takeoff, climb and in the circuit occurs due to insufficient airspeed or insufficient control input, it really is that simple.

    Just releasing the stick to recover from an INTENTIONAL stall is fine, you the pilot have your head in the game. If the aircraft stalls due to the pilots total lack of situational awareness then a positive push forward is warranted, it needs to be an instinctive response, no disadvantage getting light in the seat. I have been chipped by instructors during AFR's for being to aggressive during stall recovery, each to there own I guess.
