I have no skin in this game as I am unlikely to be in Aus in march, 2026 and I fly GA (although I just read a review of a European microlight that may change that). However, reading this thread has provided a bit of light entertainment. The only thing I remember about Parkes is the observatory and Ben Hall's grave. If Parkes is that bad, and no one provided feedback on the previous sly in, then this seems appropro: If the numbers are further down, then I would suggest the venue may change - or maybe worse - the event will slide into oblivion. People who feel passionately about it should volunteer and take up the mantle. It's easy to complain. I know first hand.. I live in Pommy land (meant affectionately).

Was a good GF win by the Lions... Didn't really care who won, but put a few £ on the Lions as the odds were too good and the Cats suffer the ame problem as the Hawks - only one or two decent midfielders - problem is the Cats midfielders are better than the Hawks. Taking the partner to a fancy local restaurant with the proceeds (building up brownie points for flying again). BTW, Jeremy Cameron copped a broken arm in a clash with fellow team mate Patrick Dangerfield (who really lives up to his surname). Yet he played out the rest of the game (if 17 minutes on the bench is playing out the game). Laid a great tackle that stopped an almost certain Brisbane score. Imagine a player in the "beautiful game" putting on that sort of bravery.

Disappointing, but hopefully they factored one or two failures into their calculations -
Didn't Warren Buffet say he paid for a 1-800 number to call every time he thought about investing in an airline?

This vid was brought to my attention by my son. My son follows him, and according to my son (whi is no authority) his videos are more directed to lay people than those in aviation. Regardless, it gives us more context than the original videos available and posted.. And while vids can be edited to support a narrative, assuming this content producer is unbiased, it affirms the pilot did a pretty good job. My normal go to is PiloDebrief, whio is an ex USAF accident investigator, who is far more analytical. He hasn't done a vid on this yet. as far as I can tell.

I've had my DC ANRs for, must be over 20 years.. Never had a problem with them.. Dome seems pretty sturdy. Though they are clumpy..

Melbourne - Coldstream contact.
Jerry_Atrick replied to murrayg's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
I used to fly there years ago. When i was there, hangarage was hard to come by. I heard the farm in which the airfield was located was sold a few years ago. You could try calling Lilydale flying ; they may know of someone. They're close to Coldstream so if you have no luck with Coldstream they may be a good alternative -
I understand the AVID is required to fly anywhere in Aus, where as the ASIC is required to be able for security controlled airports (unless you can arrange someone with an ASIC to escort you in the secured parts of the airport at all times). From memory, ASIC lasts two years and AVID lasts 5 Haven't read this and often I have found CASA general info web pages out of date: Security requirements for pilots WWW.CASA.GOV.AU Learn about the aviation security requirements for pilots and how to apply for your preferred option.

From the publicly available information from authorative sources I could find, there was nothing terribly convincing. But if you could address why virtually every European country and the USA, all of which have greater terrorism threats don't need or implement them, or why we don't have a drivers securty into card for those that use the most favoured vehicle for committing terrorist acts, but Australia does, and it can't just quietly perform security checks against pilots, then I am all ears (or eyes, in this case). edit: In response to @turboplanner, above

One needed to register your dog in Victoria - not sure about the other states. Not sure its called a dog licence, though. Although I am not sure how this has changed since the introdution of microchipping. But sheep, goats (better meat than lamb IMHO) can enter the food chain... (well, any animal can, I suspect). So there is a real or perceived risk of untraceable meat ending up on your kitchen table. That NZ law did make me laugh, and apologies in advance to NZ friends, but it immediately got me wondering why they didn't introduce a law banning pet sheep sh... er.. I will leave it there.
