G'day all, just about the only forum I'm not registered on, so I thought I better do something bout it.
I'm usually known around the aviation circles as Tomo, Hence the username. A young fella of the age around 18 and a bit. Diesel fitter by trade (yes I started my apprenticeship early on!), and do part time work for an Aviation joint with the LAME's when I can.
Had my RAA license for about 18 months I guess - flying all sorts, Learnt in the Drifter WB 503 and Jabiru's. Just doing my GA conversion now and finding the Cessna's and larger aircraft pretty easy to fly. They pretty much stay where you put them!!
I've written a few articles for various mag's - and do a bit of amateur photography as well.
Have fun!

They're fairly limited editions.ahahahaha, no, it seems I need to date an instructor who owns an aircraft

Oh yeah!

Congratulations Rach, very impressed.

G'day Heon, I found this statement on the web from another person having issues - courtesy of CTAF® by Basscheffers
Also I believe SA use 100/130 Avgas still, and are actually lacking in supply due to some of the refineries unserviceable?? Anyone know more about that?
Doesn't sound real exciting does it!!The green 100/130 AVGAS is nasty stuff and around Parafield, some fuel-injected C172s are having real trouble with it. Not to mention the Rotax engine in my SportStar, which is why I now fill it with premium unleaded MOGAS, the fuel it was designed for.Rotax due to being water cooled probably don't get hot enough to burn off the lead, just watch that. One of the main reasons they prefer PULP in them. So if you've inadvertently used 100/130 it could be a problem. (don't quote me on that, but from what I understand you'd wanna be very careful in that area)

Pretty interesting Dj, and informative, Thanks

Just thought I'd jump in here quickly and thank those talking about the young people here.

Thanks everyone!
I'm biting at the bit already to do some more... but I better finish off the holiday - one consolation I'm only five minutes from Bundy ;)

Quoted from Mr Dunlop from the other thread.
Just letting everyone know that part of the star line up in the air display will be the RAAF Roulettes and Tony Blair in his Rebel 300 as well as handling demonstrations of everything from hanggliders to warbirds. Outside of the display times, joyflight and TIFs will be available. Details of these will be on our website shortly. Hot air balloon rides as well as joyrides and TIFs will be able to be prebooked on the website early next week. see you all there -
Incredible.
Will have to show my Grandad your pictures as he has covered probably every meter of Australia and that country, but I bet he's never seen it in this perspective. From above! (Tour operator for 50yrs.)

Great video! Don't you just love the nose down angle in Cruise in them. A very nice aircraft.

Thanks Neil.Sorry Tomo things were a little rushed, the light was getting away from us for good photo's- but as usual you don't get too many bad one's- what can't you do?
I had a good trip home, and it worked out well to wait for the sun to go down anyway so I wasn't driving into it.

No not the 4th GiPhone 4 Tomo? That seems to be where the trouble is, with blame apparently centering on the antenna system which uses the metal part of the body in the circuit.I guess we wait to find out what the 4 is really going to be like when it gets here in more force.

Me and my Brother are both Lefty's, he has the iPhone, and gets the exact same reception as I do with my Nokia, which is a quite a lot of area considering. Only difference I can plug mine into the external ariel on my ute to get more reception in more of a remote area. Failing that, use the UHF!
With Telstra obviously.
When my simple contraption dies I'll probably go iPhone, it is more user friendly and idiot proof in my opinion. Which is a must if I'm using it! ;)

Hey ya Neil, aircraft are meant to fly... not be towed around!

Can I refer you to This page with quite a few pictures of various combinations.

Why he's our drummer!!!! It's a wonder you knew the old girl had missed a beat... (
)
Good stuff Bryan, certainly would have gotten the blood pumping. I know when I had my EFATO It was all over in about 6 seconds, but boy did It wake you up!
Great to hear what you actually did, comforting (at your expense I guess) to hear what others do.
Keep it up  (the good bits only, obviously)

Can't wait for the photo's Maj, sounds exciting!

Thanks for that Rgmwa, all adding up now to what he told me I had to do. Makes sense.
-
Thanks guys, all interesting stuff. Mind you it was a mild slip, probably only using about a third of the rudder. And yeah in normal times I would have just gone around, but being a forced landing practice it's nice to know what it can do.

I show'd dad the picture and first thing he said, "not working hard enough". He than asked if the bore was glazed up, to which I believe you said so?
If it was bad fuel it still shouldn't have done that I reckon.
What could have happened is it started to glaze the bore, oil is then allowed up passed the rings increasing the glazing procedure and also making it cause a lot of carbon, hence the jammed ring. Something that once it starts is nearly impossible to stop.
Only other thing could have been incorrect cross hatching of the bores, but you'd certainly be unlucky for that to happen on more than one. And or faulty rings, but you say there were a couple doing the glazing?

Great news Bob, very pleased to hear you got your voice back.
Take care.
