An interesting crash-landing report below, involving a Lightning. The aircraft structure appears to be very durable, having incurred minimal damage in a landing in some pretty rugged terrain.

...... before I knew it, 24 other inmates had pounced on it, and started a brawl over the soap bar, because this re-education camp was run by a Pommy company under a 5 yr contract - and as we all know, Poms don't use, or buy soap.
In fact, a former well-known PM was noted as saying, "dry as Pommys towel", at one important event - which the media picked up and ran with, ignoring the important issues of the day.
In the meantime, the news was out that COVID-19 restrictions had been relaxed, and the internees in the camp were allowed to associate in groups of 3.
This figure was picked because most of the inmates couldn't count past 3 - as they were either former politicians, or simply products of the Victorian Education System.
"What are we going to do when the virus restrictions are relaxed further, and the internees are allowed to play games?", said the Captain - who had applied for, and been given, the Camp Commandant job.
"It just won't happen," said Turbo. "Firstly, there's the problem of a Camp Commandant who........

You'd have to admit, that a missile of whatever sort it was, that the Houthis lobbed on those Saudi oil tanks, wasn't exactly a huge success - because it's pretty obvious they failed to explode!
No such luck with the "Cruise missile" that hit the Pentagon! The explosion and fireball was captured on video!
-
If you really want the objective, definitive, total story, of the attack on the Pentagon, then the U.S. Navy link below provides it as a book with the utmost detail.
It is 215 pages of exceptional details, that no conspiracy theorist has obviously ever read.
The book is the U.S. Govt report on the 9/11 Pentagon attack, and it was collated via reports from thousands of people - survivors, first responders, military people, eyewitnesses. To try and pitch a story that this report is a conspiracy, is lunacy.
The hole pictured above, is what is referred to as the "punch-out" wall (an inner wall) where the final large parts of the aircraft penetrated the last inner wall of the building.
It is quite amazing that is a nearly circular hole, but no Cruise missile has ever left a circular hole in anything.

The problem with bolts that are too long and have quite a number of exposed threads, is that the exposed threads corrode, and then it becomes difficult to unscrew the nut.
If the exposed threads are projecting excessively from a housing, the housing threads will become damaged when the bolt is unscrewed.

Wingtips would most certainly leave an imprint on any building at the speeds the Boeings were travelling at. The bloke proposing the conspiracy fantasy may have plenty of flying knowledge, but he has no building or construction knowledge.
The outsides of even the biggest skyscrapers are huge openings, full of windows. An aircraft travelling at 450mph would not just splatter on the outside, the sheer velocity of the plane will carry it many metres into the building through those window openings and well beyond.
I was watching the whole deal on TV as it happened (9.00PM AWST here), and there wasn't anything faked about it, the camera followed the aircraft and we watched, stunned, as it went through the second tower.
You'd have to be some kind of weirdo to try and propagate a theory that it was all a put-up job. They identified every hijacker, the training they did, then they were captured on video in the airports, boarding.
Then we had the phone calls from the hijacked aircraft to their loved ones. You'd have to have some kind of warped mindset to ignore all the related evidence.

Women mostly have a better touch than men, they don't get ham-fisted or indulge in abuse of the controls.
When I was in the mining industry, we found the women dump truck drivers had a far better maintenance requirements record than the male drivers. The blokes were just too hard on the equipment.
They also handle repetitious and boring work better. Blokes are always up for a challenge, and it has to be done fast and furious.

Unfortunately, Turbo made a serious error when someone mentioned "bun in the Oven". He thought that he was being blamed for the office girl getting knocked up - when it was a customer enquiring about whether they could cook bread in the Turbo Dutch Oven.
Turbo started a spluttering explanation about "bun in the Oven", which thoroughly confused the client. It got worse, as Turbo went on to .....

But the Turbine Wailing Corporation was already in trouble. The Japanese heard about them, and decided to send an increased fleet of Whaling vessels to the South Pacific to combat this new threat.
The Aboriginal Corporations heard about a new Wailing Corporation and decided that name was an affront to Indigenous Culture and they launched a lawsuit to stop the Corporation operating and using that name.
Then Greenpeace massed their forces and set off to intercept the new maritime operation. Turbo was in a bind. He was being attacked on all sides, and it was starting to look like.......

It takes 10 to 15 years to get from concept to service & in the meantime pilot less aircraft are appearing in droves
And right there is why the F-35 is going to end up the greatest waste of Defence dollars ever seen in this country. Technology is changing so fast and Remote Warfare, AI and Robots are going to become the way the wars of the future are fought.
I'll also wager the primary aim of the future war-mongers will be to knock out satellites and disable electricity grids. The F-35's will be as useful in 2035 as a Gloster Gladiator was in 1944.

Pure Water without oxygen present is pretty non reactive..
The scientists don't agree with you, Nev. Pure water is quite reactive and will tend to chemically react with any compound that goes into it.

......car aerial, the modern equivalent of a 60's foxtail. Turbo's furball business was in deep manure, with plummeting sales.
The Australian Govt had retaliated against the Chinese tariffs on Australian barley and meat, and had put an 80% tariff on Chinese furball toys. The sales graph of the furball toys promptly fell off a cliff.
But worse, the furball toys relied on imported cat fur - from no-one else but the Turbo Enterprises Cat farm. The cat fur imports had a 50% tariff slapped on them by the Chinese Govt, in more tit-for-tat retaliation.
Then the Chinese Govt stopped the importation of cat meat from Australia. But the main supplier of the Australian cat meat was - yes, you guessed it - Turbo Enterprises. Turbo went grey overnight. This was worse than COVID-19.
Then the Shanghai Food Retailers Index dropped like a stone, as the realisation that the cat meat supplies were going to dry up, hit the traders.
There was nothing the Chinese enjoyed more than a Chinese Claypot Cat meal - with Australian cats greatly preferred, because of Australia's good reputation as a high quality food supplier.
There were mutterings of revolt within China. It was bad enough that it was the anniversary of Tiananmen Square - but stopping the Chinese from getting their Claypot Cat delicacy was a step too far.
The PLA were sent out in force to quell the impending rebellion. Then the news came in that the Liaoning was adrift in the South China Sea, and the RAN frigate crews had all mooned the Chinese sailors on the way past.
The Liaoning couldn't fire any shots over the bows of the Australian Frigates, because it was found the Ukrainian guns, and the Chinese ammunition on board, were incompatible.
A translator in the Communist Party had mistaken "сто сімдесят міліметрів" for "一百八十毫米", and this was a huge 错误. Heads would roll over this, and the cat meat supply problem became a non-issue, as.............

Looks to me just like regular Defence and Govt incompetence in operation again.
And of course, there's that particularly nasty "end-user" sales agreement clause relating to the U.S. having total control over where you can dispose of ANY American-built military items, of ANY type or model - even simple things like engines.
With U.S. built Fighters, Uncle Sam tells you exactly who you can sell them to, and who you can't - even when they're only fit for scrap.

....the queues to buy Avgas and ULP stretched around the block. But Turbo wasn't about to lose out. He bought 16 oil tanker loads of crude, and then rang a News Corp operative and told him to run a story about War breaking out between Saudi Arabia and Israel over some perceived religious slight.
The price of oil went back up past US$70 a BBL, and Turbo was walking around with a grin like a Cheshire Cat, while punching numbers on his calculator, as to how much profit he'd have to shift to the Cook Islands, to avoid the tax bill in Oz.
Meantimes, the Chinese boycotts were hitting the Australian economy hard. First it was barley, then it was meat, then it was ........

Our top condition Super Hornets are being sold back to a Yank company (for peanuts, no doubt), to be used as decoys for the USAAF fighters.
The company buying them is probably doing Toyota leaps at their win - particularly as the FA-18's are being fully reconditioned over 3 or 4 years, before being handed over! They also come with all their spares and tooling!!

I can see plenty of prang potential in an aircraft with drooping wings. Just a bit a gust under one wing when close to the deck, and you could be facing the wrong way very rapidly.
I'm amazed that Steve could build such a large roomy fuselage and still keep the weight within the 650 kg limit. I would imagine the load capacity isn't a great amount.
I have to agree with Flightrite, the rig wouldn't win any styling awards - and certainly no interior finish awards!

We're getting in dogma here with water taste. The taste of water is subjective, everyone tastes things slightly differently. The good "taste" of pure water is usually compared to regular tap water or bore water, both of which are mineralised.
Even the experts can't agree as to whether pure water has a taste or not. But many people reckon it does.

.....Planey hatching a plot to assist the Inspector to give China and its two-bit bully of a leader, its comeuppance.
The plan involved warning China that the RAN would shortly be moving into the South China Sea with a group of RAN frigates and Patrol craft, to assert Australia's rights to International Navigation.
This would result in China adopting its standard bully boy tactics and sending the carrier Liaoning into the South China Sea at full speed - whereupon it would promptly break down (due to serious translation errors in the move to Pinyin, from the Ukrainian operating manual).
Once it was determined the Liaoning was immovable, the RAN ships would then be able to zoom past the carrier, with the entire RAN crews baring their arXXes at the Liaonings crew in passing, and all fully recorded by........

Plugs are a highly suitable asset to assist in maintenance and repair - but the important thing to remember is they are a potential source of electrical problems if not built properly and maintained.
All plug connectors should be sealed with rubber seals and a smear of thermal grease used on all metal parts of the connector to improve conductivity, and to prevent corrosion.
Thermal grease contains metal oxides and silicone oil, so it can provide both corrosion protection as well as conductivity improvement. But you only need a light coating of it.
In addition, taping connectors adds a final layer of protection that will ensure moisture and other detrimental compounds cannot enter the connector plug.
Japanese vehicles have excellent sealed wiring harness connectors (particularly in exposed chassis wiring situations), and these connectors can be be purchased as individual units for construction of wiring harnesses.
Then there are the excellent Deutsch wiring harness connectors, designed for heavy industrial use, where exposure to dust, salt water and salt air, and other corrosive mineral elements are a constant threat to wiring.
The Deutsch connectors are standard on Caterpillar equipment, and they are as robust as you can get. All types of connectors are available from RS Components, Alanco, or Ashdown-Ingram.

Ozzietriker, 25mm coolant hose is a rare size and often only found in heater hose applications. However, I'd suggest Parker brand, "SILICONE GREEK CORRUGATED HIGH TEMPERATURE WIRE REINFORCED COOLANT HOSE, SERIES 6621" will do the job for you.
This is a high quality, reinforced, high strength, high temperature hose used in industrial cooling applications, and it contains wire reinforcement.
The problem would be trying to find a stockist who is prepared to sell you less than a full coil length. Parker will be able to advise a suitable stockist you can purchase from.

Nev, many a car or 4WD fuel tank neck opening won't take the bigger Hi-flow nozzle. If they do, the tank venting system won't purge air fast enough. Truck fuel tanks have no such problems.

Finished my first build
in Just Landed - Welcome

One thing that really impresses me about the Lightning is the interior design and finish. The instrument panel design is impressive in its professional-looking shape and appearance.
The lined finish in the cockpit goes a long way to making it look like the aircraft has had a lot of thought put into pilot and passenger comfort, and it must reduce noise levels as well.
