  1. There may be some industries where the pendulum against men has swung too far, but I know plenty of women, and have heard their stories of constant male harassment, bullying, and sidelining in the workplace.

I'm just glad I wasn't born a woman, they have to put up with a lot of shXX just in daily life, let alone lower wages, first to get sacked, having to be constantly on guard against the not-so-subtle innuendoes, and the regular demeaning of their efforts. I owe a fair portion of what little success I've achieved in this life, to strong women partners and a capable mother. All of them had to put up with a lot of shXX from other men, particularly when young and pretty.

  2. There are a number of different models of Europa, and the XS is available in monowheel, trigear and glider version.

The Elite is an interesting further development that is reportedly being released this year. Currently Europa only utilise Rotax engines, but the Elite sales spiel says "many engine options".

However, that doesn't outline as to whether that means other brands of engine option will be available, or whether it just means a range of Rotax engine options.

  3. The starter clutch is a standard automotive starter clutch, is it not? It looks like someone is getting them made in China, thus the construction shortcut.

Lack of lubricant is often the main reason for starters failing to engage properly, worn bushes comes next - which is also related to lack of lubricant.

  4. The Pancho Barnes and Happy Bottom Riding Club story is on YouTube. I read her story on the Wikipedia page, it's pretty disgusting the way senior officers in the USAF were so corrupt and domineering, as regards trying to get ownership of her Ranch property for a new runway - but she won eventually, through the Courts. But none of the senior officers were ever held to account. And eventually, the runway was never built.

  5. ....their services, even when they aren't needed all the time. "This is the way all high-powered executives work", said Turbo. "We need to keep a pool of important, useful people on hand, in case we need their services quickly".

"But your service requirements are a little different, as compared to what other people want", said Cappy with a sniff. "Particularly when the ladies are involved", he added.

"I find that comment appalling", said an outraged Turbo. "And here was I, thinking you were a mate, when all the time you were....

  6. Not in the least bit unsurprising. Bullying and sexual harrassment is widespread throughout the corporate world and numerous men have major problems treating women as equals, or as major contributors in the work arena.

The change needs to come right from the top. Sack all the senior management in ASA, and get replacements that have a different attitude.

  7. ....supply the "re-education" camps within China. "I'll tell you what else I can organise", said Turbo, leaning over in a conspiratorial manner (note the root words - "con" and "piratorial", with "con" being obvious, and "piratorial" coming from the word "pirate").

Turbo went on, "I'll have a little talk to my best friend Don, and see if I can get him to be a little less warlike on China, and get him to come around to accepting that China nows rules in this neck of the woods, rather than the U.S."

"Turbo, you're just amazing", said Xi. "I don't know how I can thank you for smoothing our takeover pathway into the Great Southern and South Pacific Regions. "Maybe I can offer you a seat on the Ruling Committee?"

"No, I can't afford the time for that," said Turbo. "I'm already exceptionally busy with my major corporate roles - and besides, there's an obvious conflict there, that may lead to.....

  8. It amazes me that engine manufacturers spend tens of millions on engine design, then fail to ensure critical components such as camshaft lobes don't have a simple sheetmetal cup under them, to retain a supply of oil, that the lobes would dip into on startup, to prevent camshaft lobe dry start wear.

  9. I would consider that that batch of Tefzel wire is faulty, and undesirable chemicals have been involved in the coating process.

All insulated plain copper wire should show bright copper upon exposure after stripping the insulation. I'd be calling the supplier and grilling them, explaining that you suspect this wire batch does not meet specifications.

The fact that there is a huge difference in the brightness between the outer and inner wires is of concern. Then again, the supplier may throw the blame back onto you, citing poor storage conditions.

The copper wire corrosion problem can stem from excessive fluorides in the insulation of the ETFE wire. Even NASA has had problems with it.

There are some wire manufacturers who ensure fluoride levels are low during the insulation application process.

Thruster88's experience with silvery wires may be because he is using silver-plated copper wiring in his Tefzel variety of wire. But even the silver-plated Tefzel wire variety has produced corrosion issues.

There are numerous different specs for the varieties of Tefzel wire. You can buy tin-plated Tezfel wire as well, this is a cost-saving exercise over the silver-plated variety.

  10. ......family of the deceased Aghan, for the loss of their primary income earner. After all, suicide bomb makers got good danger money, thanks to the Taliban Workers Association & Training Support (T.W.A.T.S., as it was known locally).

However, the Govt rejected the claim as being unacceptable, as no evidence was offered (a body would have been good), to support the familys claim for compensation.

Besides, the deceased was merely on his way to a wedding, and had never heard of "suicide bomber", "insurgents", "maggot" or any other term of reference used by Aussie troops.

Charlenes C.O. was less than impressed that she'd been called to give evidence at the War Crimes Inquiry. He needed her around for training purposes, to give a morale boost to the rest of the troops that might be a bit queasy.

"I can tell you this much", the C.O. said. "If I had a dozen Charlenes, I reckon we'd be.....

  11. Gates make top quality products, the Gates fan belts on Perth public transport buses last for 500,000kms. Their hoses are just as good.

Most Japanese cars run close to 100°C in normal operation, and go to 110°-115° on hot Summer days under load. When a temperature gauge on a Japanese vehicle points to H, it's definitely Hot!

  12. Use some aluminium lube wax when cutting aluminium with any saw blade (scroll or holesaw) - it's great stuff that reduces heat and wear, and stops the aluminium sticking to the saw teeth.

It works very well when applied to grinding and cutting discs, as well. Just a good trick taught to me in recent times, by an Italian aluminium welder bloke.

...suicide rate in Australia has increased by over 50%.

Where do you get this figure from? It can't be official, it takes time to collate and release records of death by suicide. Many odd deaths have to be investigated to determine whether the death was accidental or suicide.

The last official figures for suicide numbers would be for the period well before the COVID-19 virus even struck in China.

And the suicide rate is not specifically raised directly by the coronavirus. Suicide reasons are more often related to partnership breakdowns, money worries, job worries - and familial hereditary reasons.

In other words, suicidal tendencies run in families, and are inherited.

I have known numerous people who suicided, and in every case, they suffered from regular deep depression and suicidal thoughts - and eventually took their lives after more than one attempt.

Perhaps surprisingly to some, the greatest reduction in suicides in Australia came in the years after the gun buyback. Easy access to multiple firearms was a common feature of suicides in the era before the gun buyback.

The suicide rate by firearm dropped by 60% after the gun buyback, and the suicide rate overall, dropped by a sizeable percentage. People with suicidal tendencies fall into deep depression over the smallest issues, and need constant support.

  14. ......your Hung Long Specials, in that famous restaurant of yours. When are you going to invite me to sample one of them?". Ahmed was impressed at this display of culinary knowledge - although he was a little confused at why someone would name their daughter Barry. But parents often picked strange names for the children, as witnessed by the Boy named Sue.

Besides, his parents being of mixed ancestry was what led to his Middle Eastern first name and his Vietnamese last name, causing extensive confusion in most places he went.

"I'm offering you these Redheads, because I believe you should be a Redhead, not a Blonde!", exclaimed Ahmed. "You have the fiery nature of a Redhead, and more brains than the average Blonde, so you should......

  15. I don't have any missile engineer qualifications, but as a Vietnam veteran, I've seen and inspected plenty of explosive armaments results, and I was often the target, or part of it.

I am a trained military engineer, with qualifications in mine warfare and explosive demolitions - and practical use of explosives in civilian life, as an agricultural earthmover, and also as a mining contractor.

The hole in the inner Pentagon wall was made largely by the remnants of one of the engines of the Boeing.

If a cruise missile goes through an object (steel ship superstructure or hull, or a building wall), it will either explode on the other side - or not explode (due to faults in construction or design) - whereupon the missile remains largely intact.

The conspiracy theorists fail to explain the precise sequence of events involving the "cruise missile" that supposedly struck the Pentagon. Yet the outside walls of the Pentagon suffered extreme explosive damage and fire damage.

This means that whatever blew up against those walls expended its explosive energy upon contact with those walls.

Yet the conspiracy theorists would then have us believe that the "cruise missile" then continued onwards to the inner ring wall of the Pentagon and then made a fairly neat circular hole - after having exploded against the outer walls??

Give me a break, this is complete and utter BS of the highest order, developed in a warped mind that sees conspiracy in two people speaking to each other, where they can't hear the conversation.
