The whole medical disaster that is aeromed rests on the erroneous presumption that a medical examination is able to detect a medical condition that the pilot is not aware of that catastrophically decreases her ability to fly safely. The WHOLE POINT OF SELF DECLARATION IS THAT THE EVIDENCE DEMONSTRATES THAT THIS FOLK BELIEF IS BULLSHIT.
The experience shows that pilots are the best judges of whether they are medically sound or not. That does not mean they are perfect, but that they are streets ahead of the medical profession, and that they can and do accuratey certify their own fitness to fly every time they take the controls.
AhHa! you say, but what about drugs, alcohol and mental illness? The answer to that one is that the medical profession will be the very LAST to detect such conditions.
Please please also do not confuse a medical condition that is dangerous to the long term health of a pilot with a medical condition that is going to render them unfit to fly. For example what CASA considers is excessive alcohol use.

The principle applicable to aircraft is:
Old prescriptive system: CASA decided how you would operate safety and made rules (for which they were legally responsible).
Self Administration system: CASA provides the basic guide; you are legally responsible for what you do.
The VFRG should be able to provide everything you need to know.

You're looking at the "dumb set of rules" from the previous prescriptive era which has been progressively, and quietly, disbanded.
They're not dumb when you realise the legal liability is now with the pilot.

CASA divested most of their legal liability for radio calls by switching to the see and be seen policy, throwing the legal liability or using a radio onto the PIC. That's pretty normal across all industries. If you work in a factory operating a saw, once upon a time a DLI government inspector would go around making sure all the saw guards were in place and issuing a compliance ticket. Now you have to ensure the guard is in place and your employer will usually send you for a training certificate to operate specific machinery.
CASA's action is not different to that, so it's unlikely in most cases that you would meet your safety obligations with just one call.
Just relying on some other person's advice on "What I do is...." isn't going to gt you out of trouble if there's an accident.
This link "Radio procedures in non-controlled airspace" tells you your radio obligations in Class G.
It includes:
- When you MUST make a call
- When you SHOULD make a call
- Calls recommended ALL the time
- Calls when there is other traffic

The problem is they don't want to do that because it involves learning some formal radio procedures, and studying a few documents, and flying within a formal framework. An Instructor should easily be able to train them in a few hours. When it's required for your training, you're competent by the time you go solo, but I 've never seen an Instructor come on here and say "This is easy, I should be able to get you through that in x hours."

The accident at Elphinstone involved a Powered Parachute;
The Channel 9 reporter correctly describes is as a Powered Parachute.
The branding identifies it as an Aerochute make, HummerChute model.

An earlier Channel 9 report said there was a crosswind and they were pushed across into a fence. They are ideal in calm conditions, but I'm aware of a few similar incidents where the machine gets pushed sideways. Problem is, if you turn into the wind their slow forward speed makes it a mathematical calculation to get high enough to clear obstacles. They are best in an open paddock with wind. I was looking at using one in bush conditions, landing on roads, but it was clear from watching a few days events that you could forget about roads.

Impressive enough to have a Youtube Video made about it, most people would have accepted that George Bush let OSB off for a 50 buck bribe and the MSM media just bought it.
The story was partly true (and we ask readers not to repeat this); OSB was found gambling, but at the Tiger shooting village of Dahir in India, by none other than Cappy on a shooting trip.
Cappy phoned Turbo, Turbo hopped across in he Challenger and they grabbed on of the Khyber Drifters, armed it, and wiped him out. The photo below shows how much more effective the KhyberDrifters are than the now-dated FA/18, and ...............................................................

I've had about 20 instructors over the years; about five were outstanding so I wouldn't go there.
Moorabbin is a dual circuit operation so it starts with knowing how to use the ATIS to pick the entry point for the runway you have to use and the procedures in from the entry point.
If you're just looking for a swat list of radio calls, I'd phone the Tower and book a time to go up with the ATC guys and you'll hear wht they hear. I've done it and it shows you the god the bad and the ugly, a great yeaching tool, and they explain "I told him this because he ........." etc.
Then book a conversion with one of the training centres.
