    A lot of civilians committed suicide rather than be captured by the Americans for fear of the treatment they were told to expect apparently, there's lots of sad film of it, the cliff jumpers for example. There is no clear reason the Japanese surrendered, but indeed the Russians jumping in at the same time as the A bombs was certainly a major influence, as was the entire country being gridlocked as the population went in all directions seeking safety. That was in part due to the Americans leaflet bombing them telling them they were going to bomb where they were ahead of time, a very effective technique saving civilian lives and causing immobilisation of the Japanese military at the same time due to roads being heavyly blocked. in a similar fashion, but a bit more sinister, Germans often used Stukas to strafe fleeing refugees to direct them up roads that advancing Allies were using.

    A number of high up Japanese were educated in America and knew what the Americans could acheive eventually if allowed to. They were mostly ignored by Japanese superiority arrogance.

    Nah, it's a $300,000 aircraft mate. When you throw that in the face of a demographic of people who don't have $3000 in their bank account, then you will ellicit a reaction usually in line with 'what's the point?' when something is clearly unreachable for them, it's human nature. No one is against the aircraft, no one is against Nic running a business as required, it's just a demographic thing. I would consider your opinion on the Gabriel to be no different to other's opinions here on the Prime.. "tandems" are actually the easiest to balance, relative to all other 2 place craft, you just plonk your Pax and baggage on the CoG. I suggest the roast beef and spuds.

    Yup, took 3/4s of all Allied Pacific Theater kills. The Hellcat was also an accurate bomber to boot. If not for the Hellcat, not the Spitfire, you guys might be drinking Fosters Sake today. Not sure why you guys are going on looks, these are planes for the purpose of destruction, and only factually how they fulfilled their purpose should matter. I love the Hellcat look anyway, as mentioned, I'm a fastback man, and they don't get much more fastback than a Hellcat. You seem to be mistaking musclular brawn for other. But it's ok, it's 2018 and men admitting to a more feminine sway is now completely acceptable. Mostly.

    The more experienced Zero pilots when being tagged would lure the pursuant into a climb where the Zero excelled, when the pursuer reached peak and went back down, the Zero above would then merely drop on top of him for an easy kill. It was an American Hellcat that first outclimbed them and took a fair number of them down using their own technique against them before they realised the Americans had this new model. The Hellcat of course would have wiped the floor had it been against Spitfires.

    The Spitfire is not unique by far in being claimed the greatest by the English purely because it's English. I have never liked the look of them, I happen to love fastbacks such as a BF109 or earlier P51 (always overlooked in favour of the P51D). Love Zeros too. Captain Eric Brown, the Chief Naval Test Pilot of the Royal Navy, recalled being impressed by the Zero during tests of captured aircraft. "I don't think I have ever flown a fighter that could match the rate of turn of the Zero. The Zero had ruled the roost totally and was the finest fighter in the world until mid-1943." Sorry Marty, but Spitfires suck.

    I dunno, I would tend to get people experienced in the actual area to do the job, it's a critical safety part in my mind. Could try Ole http://www.aircraftkits.com.au/ They have plenty of experience mounting Rotax to STOL.

    I think all the main Chinese airlines here land in Oz. I doubt CASA safety standards are any more stringent than China's, on paper anyway. I don't know, but am suspicious of so many airlines requiring to meet "CASA's standards", Shirley there's an International body that monitors the majority of International airlines flying to most countries? Would be pretty messy otherwise.

    Deep in my heart I don't trust any of them knowing what I know about work culture. But, none of them are falling out of the sky, they are all Airbus or Boeing planes, and there are multiple choices of major airports and military bases within glide distance in case of emergency FWIW, Sichuan Airlines have the best food and hottest non-specific gender Stewardesses.

    An old car yard trick for saturated drum brakes after one side wheel cylinder fails. Works but does lower braking performance of course.

    W & B deflecting beam, the best torque wrenches of them all, moderate price. All torque wrenches need to be checked depending on how often you use them. I checked mine every 3 months or so, but then again it was being used every day in the higher 10s. I don't like the sudden release torque wrenches, they jar my wrist. Smooth ramp and beam for me ....'click!'

    We have numbers of Oz Pilots working for Chinese airlines over here. I have spoken to a few of them and they all say the same thing, Chinese Pilots go stricly by the numbers and never 'fly them a bit'.

    For a loooong time. About 10,000 Christians a year are killed in Indo. Some British funded rebels, oops, I meant Assad of course, drops some chemicals on 20 people and war breaks out. I was talking to an Oz who was there (Indo) for a few years doing business and he reckons stick to the 9 to 3 day only. Move around between those times during the day, but stay indoors between 3PM and 9AM, your life is in genuine danger aparently.

    Personally I think Oz can do with a few more large jet airports as long as they are logically and evenly spaced. it's a big place you know.
