Welcome to the good country! If SDQDI is correct (it hasn't happened yet) about me meeting you at Keepit last weekend, then my apologies. We need nametags with our Avatar. What did you fly up in?Lyle, living in Tamworth now mate! Lol -
Yep Marty, the sins of the fathers... are hopefully not repeated by our offspring. One of the burdens of age is the knowledge of what kids do, and coping with the worry.

No PPL and no transponder, Scotty. Hoping they might open up to RAA like they did years ago.You could fly in before the tower opens!...maybe? If you have a PPL and a Transponder ... Scotty -
All right clever person. So I'm crap with names! Especially when the alias is not mentioned.Lol OK you met dead stick at lake keepit last weekend

I was there.i remember the good old days about 15 years ago a friend and myself flew a thruster tst and single seat thruster into tamworth airport, with permission for an airshow, both had single ignition 503 rotax's -
Maybe he has one of those "distance no object" aeroplanes.
-
Interesting, what was the advantage?I have had my Jab powered 230 for 7 years and nearly 700 hours... I had...electronic ignition fitted last year and can say these are probably the best mods so far? ... -
Thanks ds. Nowra is a bit far from Tamworth.
-
Interesting Sue, but what provision do they make for mere RAA pilots to fly in? Landing fees, controlled airspace at a security-controlled airport doesn't make it attractive.
-
Wilco, but north-bound traffic beware.A025 in that case I would say, legally. -
On a magnetic heading of 178 should I cruise just under cloud base of 3500', or 500 feet below cloud at 3000'? The hills reach over 1500' so that level is too low.
Luckily there's little traffic, but I'm trying to learn good habits.
-
Ain't that wot tru learnin is?Now you're messing with my mind......
Sometimes there's a safety issue with sticking to cruising altitudes. Coming home from Lake Keepit on Sunday cloud base was about 3500' above 1000' to 2000' land. Do you try to stay 500 under cloud or use the level most likely used by oncoming traffic?

An alternative is to go around the clock face: NOSE. = North-Odds-South-Evens (plus 500').

I have no expertise in that area, Laurie, but I believe that sheathing hoop pine in fibreglass is for extra strength and protection from erosion by rain, etc. Any difference in pitch or blade area it may provide would be miniscule.

Damn! Another fascinating fantasy bites the dust.Nice to get a touch of reality. -
I used to take the rifle and disappear into the rugged State Forest near our farm. Parents must have worried, but maybe had too much on their plate to show it. These days slightly overdue bush walkers rate a helicopter rescue and the full media blitz.

How do I RSVP? I plan on being there Sue. Hope Narromine gets a good crowd.

A good theory, Cosmick, but already covered.

Actually, this could dovetail with another thread- relocation of the RAAus office. One suggestion was to co-locate with SAAA and share facilities. Perhaps the two associations could take turns running the Fly-In.

They must learn that with the big bucks come big responsibilities....make a habit of jailing their CEOs, board members and anybody within the company who was aware of the issue and didn't take action... -
There is hope, Bex. We recently had our house full of visitors from the city. Little kids had trikes to ride around, but quickly lost interest when they found the old laundry trolley. Folded down, it makes a great vehicle for tearing down the hill into the gully and up the other side.

People who intend to gather at Narromine on that weekend could indicate so on this thread, and contact the Aero Club to see if they can cater for tucker, etc. Many of us are equipped to camp semi-independently.

What's to stop people turning up anyway? Who needs special events. Pilot Power!

Close cowl flaps, apply carby heat.Yep, heard about this - it's known as a "Cold seizure".I'm always wary, especially at this time of the year, during any decent or in the circuit, that I adequately maintain engine temperature.Pud
