  1. No recent flying !.  ( stopped me dead in my tracks ).

    But

Just like riding a bicycle . You never lose the concept.

Took to a motor bike after 50 years, of refusing to wear a ' crash helmet ' .

First tiff at 15, (English Air Cadets,). Then a couple of war birds that went to the smelter. ( as passenger).

Second  N Z (in my 30s ( just a chance encounter )). With two aircraft given to me, & one that disappeared.

The C A C, Wirraway was left on  display at the train museum Upperhut Wellington. ( Stokes valley ).

The Trans avia Airtruck, with its broken nose wheel, l just phoned Trans avia, & was told " no spares "  so left it in the rough at Kapiti airfield.

Then Australia, hang gliding, sailplane, a couple of Thruster flights. Then into it.

Foxbar A22 training at the Oaks,

Gee a life story !. LoL

  2. " With a ' known ' litres per hour of engine time !.

Were,s the problem  ?. Rotax are known to have good records of consumption.

    AND

At six litres per hour, can my Hummel just have a two litre bottle  of fuel, plus funnel. "☆

On the last word of the fourth line.

The cap is attached,  top off bottle , funnel to cover the fuel, then upend into the gapping orifice. All to be done in one quick smooth movement.

  3. With a ' known ' litres per hour of engine time !.

Were,s the problem  ?. Rotax are known to have good records of consumption.

    AND

At six litres per hour, can my Hummel just have a two litre bottle  of fuel, plus funnel.

After exhausting the fuel tank l could reach over the windscreen to top up with my two ltres, for anothe 40 minutes of flight. LoL

Why are the Heavy aircraft so poor in fuel management !.

Even some jumbo jets have run out of fuel !, & aren,t they professionals.

  4. I almost bought a 150 Eagle aircraft.

It was an insurance disposal. $5,000 US.

The damage was only the tail wheel getting smashed off when it was put ( tailwheel ), up on a bench fot ' final weighing ) .with its  Brand-new Hirth motor. How do you buy planes in America.

Why so cheap,  no one repairs glass or carbon fibre composites.

Here ( Australia ) The only repairer charges. 50% ownership. Plus cost.

    ( i tried to buy a sailplane, with a damaged nose cone, ( didn,t stop in time ! ).

I won't touch composite at all.

  5. Valves are known to be ' ;adapted ' to the valve seat requirements.

Stem length & diameter are the norm to fit, the head can be machined to the size required, the seal is ground when all other sizes do fit.

OLDEN days required ' adaptability more than, off the shelf availability.

Just an old persons, thoughts on spare parts, ( like a rejplacement hip !. )  LoL

  7. The plane took one hour to cover almost, the point to point distance as I did by road, my milage  ( kiloige ) was greater on the clock !.

    IF

My car was the lowest fuel user, I would have been forced into staying at an expensive hotel/motel, as well as eating out !.

My fuel cost in the delica are offset by having a bed ( comfortable double ) at call. Plus all that l need for camping  ( in the  outback  ).

Great for the ' bad back people', strech out & rest any were, including while the misus is shopping. LoL

  8. You can spend More on fuel, then less on accommodation. ( Winnibago type ) It is the same in the long run.

    I took a couple of days to get from ( near) Orange, to a airshow, ( @12,5 l p hundred )

A flyer came in after a one hour flight ( from Orange ) using 21 lphour ( avgas ).

    Who used the most fuel ? (  21 l /100 or 12.5 l / 100  ).

  9. And !

Half V W motor,s have no mixture, or  heating control either.

    At 140 mph V N E  isn,t slow,  so shouldn,t need that ' low performance ' rating either.

I think some aircraft do need a ' poor performance ' rating, to keep them out of newspaper headlines.

  11. I chickened out & removed my blanking plate, when traveling South Australia.

That,s were they fined All the Jackaroo,s for not having compliance for the dicky seats.

Plus a lot more wasted lube oil, with E G R, 5,000 ks oil change.

    Most diesels go 10 000, without an E G R .

Oil gets very black with an egr, even at 5,000 k,

but without it,s looks cleaner at 7,000 ks.

  12. And that E G R really sucks, see a hill, foot down, get to that hill, and floor it.

The same vehicle with a blanking plate, gets half way up the hill Without putting pedal to the metal.

AND WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT TO YOUR ECONOMY. From 14.5 lph, down to 12 lph klmts.

Just keeping that turbo spinning helps the econom.
