  1. The beauty of the program I suggest is that all you have to do is highlight the file name; right click and select "Resize Pictures" and left click the "Resize" button. The resized file goes straight to the folder the original was in. Less actions.

  2. If you want to attach a picture to your posts, but the file size exceeds the allowable size for this site, you can use this program: http://imageresizer.codeplex.com/ to resize it so that it can be uploaded.

Once the program is installed, all you have to do is on the image. A dialogue box will come up. Look down the list and click on "Resize picures" to open the program. Select the size you want the new file to be. I use the Medium setting. I have checked only the 'Ignore picture rotation' box. Don't check the "Replace the originals" box, or you'll be left with only the modified file.

The program will produce a new file with the same name as the original, but with the extra detail (Medium) included. So, the file, myplane.jpg will be resized and named myplane(medium).jpg

I've been using this program for a couple of years and the download has not set off alarm bells with my malware and virus protection.

  3. It's a bugger of a strip. Basically North-South, so no matter from which direction the wind blow, you'll have a cross wind. It has been cut out of real tiger country and as you can see from the aerial view, there's no place to go but into the trees if you have an EFOT (not that I know if this was the case here). Those tree have captured a few airplanes in he past.

And when I hear the reported saying that it was a Cessna, I nearly threw my slipper at the TV. Bloody reporters! They almost make me believe that Bronwyn Bishop pays for her travel out of her own pocket.

  4. The concept of "Fit and Proper" usually refers to criminal activity, bankruptcy, mental health or other activities contrary to the activity to be carried on.

Here is a link to a typical Government Fit and Proper person test:

So for the example given, the person would have had to have been convicted of an offence, and it ain't an offence if you ain't been caught.

  5. Aw sh!t. I knew JDZ real well when I was working for Dave Dent, and I knew the owner/builder too. It was a real lot of airplane, and a lot of hours went into its construction.

Having known a few owners of a few Pitts airplanes imported from the States and assembled by Dave Dent I wonder if some of them had wallets making claims that their flying abilities could not fulfil. I know that the owner/builder of JDZ found it to be quite a handful when stepping up from an S type Pitts.

  6. Popular Mechanics is a really good place for some recreational reading. I love to go right back to the 1910s and follow the development of aviation through the pages of this magazine. It is also a good source of old-time DIY stuff and you would be surprised how long ago a lot of the nick-nacks we use now were invented

Here's the link to the whole archive. You should add it to your bookmarks folder.

  7. Hey Scotty!

Haven't heard from you in ages. How's the build going? You could contact an airplane importer as see if they might be able to whack your engine in with a plane they are bringing in. Might only cost you the price of getting the box to their depot in the States. You could ring Dent at Camden for a lead.
