  1. There seems to be a certain sort of pilot that flies a Cirrus.......
  2. Just what the world needed a 21m span pure jet powered biplane with two separate hoppers 2m either side of the centreline!!!!! It also had two seats behind the pilot for pax. I have seen pics of one spreading solids, I cringe at the thought of flow problems and having one hopper empty while the other still full. Any of the Polish aircraft have good spread/spray patterns. The Drom was the best of any factory setup for spray, the Drom spreader threw a great pattern as well. A well flown Drom could sow the best rice crop of any aircraft.
  3. Flying powerlines has been done for many years. I would consider an Ag rating the minimum training. Was this an RAA aircraft?
  4. Saw it flyover western vic a few years ago, it was very slow
  5. Spanish built Hispano Battle of Britten star Buchan?
  6. Is there any other reason for flying?
  7. That aircraft doesn't look very stable in pitch
  8. Going forward...................😁 You getting that speak from Canberra?
  9. 😁 Any Pipers are great little machines
  10. Colts a lovely little aircraft
  11. I am terrible at maths, not that smart yet I can fly!!!! Use all the techno babble you like if you want to sound smart or wind somebody up but I think stuff that technical has no place in flying.
  12. Couple of things, a spirit level is open to flight forces and doesn't remain level. Bob Hoover demonstration of the roll while pouring a jug of water being an example. If an aircraft cannot maintain altitude it can just descend without stalling. This thread has just become one giant pocket pissing contest. Turns at low speed need you to be aware of the aircrafts foibles and handling, no science degree needed, a degree in pedantic's not required either. Stop this madness.................
  13. Aircraft, Gary.......................Aircraft 😔
  14. Epic PP thread...........
  15. A slip has crossed controls skid usually not. Balanced flight always better, there are times when a slip can be used to loose height/speed. Some people who can't/don't want to crab down final in a crosswind use flying out of balance or a skid. I have always used crabbing.
  16. Not sure about the last variants of the Corsair but most of the ones in WW2 had fabric spar back. I have seen a pic of rows of Corsairs lined up after war in the Pacific, they must have been there a while as most of the fabric had rotted away showing the structure underneath. I would have thought a Corsair was good for over 300 knots indicated. Most of the WW2 fighters had fabric control surfaces and the likes of Spitfire went well over 240 knots.
  17. Tactics were much the same all the way through aerial warfare, faster aircraft had different tactics to slower better turning. Much the same counters from 1914 through to the Vietnam war where missiles and smart weapons changed things.
  18. Neil was a gentleman, he used to fly Tom around in the 182 towards the end of Air Ag. AA/Superspread only used Tigers. They did look into the Lysander and Stearman but DCA at the time weren't going to let that happen. SS did use Wirraway's for a limited time.
  19. The Cat had fabric from the spar back, a lot of area to stitch-up and brush. I remember seeing a Cat on Survey work in the 70's used to take ages to fly over it was very slow. The Corsair also had fabric from the spar back, unusual for such a high performance aircraft.
  20. Basil Browns Airfarm used the radial ones before they got the Ceres
  21. You can always drive to get the full experience. People blind drunk they can hardly stand, place full of empty cans and rubbish. The brawls outside the pub late into the night. All the good stuff still available 😁
  22. Quite a few of the with SS prefix were old Super Spread aircraft.
