 Crookwell Aerodrome!Sunday 15 November

"Hi everyone,

We’ve locked in a new date for the Crookwell Aero Club’s fly-in — Sunday 15 November, from 10am at Crookwell Aerodrome!

Unfortunately, the weather forced us to cancel our September event, so we’re crossing our fingers for blue skies this time around.

We’d love to welcome pilots, students, aviation enthusiasts and families for a relaxed day of planes, helicopters and a good chinwag. Whether you’re flying in or driving out, everyone is welcome!

We’d love your help spreading the word! Please forward this email to friends, family, fellow pilots, anyone wanting to learn to fly and aviation enthusiasts who might enjoy coming along.

Pop the new date in your calendar. We’ll share updates through email, our website, Facebook and Instagram as the day approaches, including any weather-related changes.

Pilots are encouraged to check current aviation weather forecasts and conditions when planning their trip.

We look forward to seeing you at the strip!"

PS

OzRunways has runway orientation as 09/27.

Runway well marked.

The Surface;  Described below is actually grass (two mowings this season, to date).

NOTE: There appears to be a parallel, private grass strip (no markings) 500 m (a guess) just to the north, with a large shed/hanger about mid way.

I have been sent the following;

That altitude is sufficient to consider performance degradation Particularly if it gets Hot as well. (November)  Don't get caught with a density altitude problem. Don't overload. IF your Plane doesn't have Much OOMPH left at 5000' it will have Marginal performance there in the take off Go around and landing Phase. .Make sure your motor has the Performance it should have.. Come on up, if the wind is out of the north west and the temp is about 30°C the density altitude will be about 5500 and the (down) wash may be in operation. 😃

How can you say that with any Certainty? Crookwell is a Bit off the Beaten track. Nev

Crookwell is only just a couple  miles off the track between Mittagong and Temora with lots of windfarms to guide one. Well and ttrly on the beaten track

Not near any town  or City Like Caloundra is. . Nev

Crookwell is a town, Goulburn is a town, Harden, Young and Cootamundra are all towns. Taralga doesn't have an airport but Bentic Murrell does. Caloundra? Nice Aviation Museum.

Yep! Just of Fishers Lane.

Your coordinates are the only shed/hanger.

From the safelight view, it looks like the hanger had been built on the X strip.

Wonder what the surface is like?

The Main thing to watch is the possible Weather there and allow for the altitude of the aerodrome. A lot of planes will have significantly reduced performance at that height and your TAS will be higher than when you are near sea level. If the temperature is up , your density altitude will be even higher. Few pilot's in Australia, have experience of higher level aerodromes .  Nev
