BirdDog Posted September 25 Posted September 25 (edited) Hello all, So, It is a long story, but I have created an online pilots logbook app, and I am looking for a few people who would like to test it and have play in exchange for lifetime access. We are in Beta testing now, and so it is good time to get other eyes on the project and get feedback. The system is running on an enterprise server via our WPEngine solution, is robust, backed up, and secure. We have designed the log to be Part61 compliant for pilot records, and added some other goodies - but we are always open to new ideas. We also designed it to run on a tablet device with nice large fonts and buttons. Making it dead set easy to do your logs right there in the cockpit, before you even get out of the plane - AND - your data is yours. You can export it anytime you like. You can even export a Part61 compliant report if you need to submit signed copies to someone. 🙂 The site can be found at https://mylog.info and is called VNE Logbook, and you can import extisting log books too! So you are not starting from scratch - including your aeroplanes. 🙂 You can't sign up from the site right now, as we are testing, so if you want to join, let me know and I can send you an invite. We will only take a small number people, so please only reach out if you are keen. Any questions - Let me know! 🙂 Cheers John Edited September 25 by BirdDog 2 1 1
jackc Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Will the App require to be connected Internet to work? Or, will it be useable off line, when needed?
BirdDog Posted September 26 Author Posted September 26 Right now, it needs connection. The plan is for it to work offline - but we have a bit of other work to complete before that option lands. Once we have all the final functionality, with help the Beta Testers, that will be on the development list.
BrendAn Posted September 26 Posted September 26 great idea. would love to help but i don't think my 70 hrs a year would give you much info for testing.

You could simply log in, play around like you are flying 200 a year, and see what you think. Most GA rec pilots do less than that a year! LOL! Up to you. If you are interested, PM me your email address 1
BirdDog Posted September 26 Author Posted September 26 SO.... Lots of changes added today. We now have a full running changelog, so you can see what we are doing, and we have a full support ticket system inside the app where you can request functions or report issues. A lot of work today! LOL! 3
Jabiru7252 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I'd like to see an Android version, that can run on an old tablet running Android 8.1.0. Can the app import .csv files? I have two logbooks in cvs format (Excel). What about ads, do you share the data with anybody? 2

It is device agnostic! 🙂 So yes, you could run it on anything that can open a web page. That is the beauty of it! There is no software to install. It runs native in a browser. Ads - NEVER! My pet hate. We will not share your data with ANYONE! 1 1

T510 Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Great App John, Thanks for letting me be part of the Beta testing, looking forward to where it ends up with input from the flying community. 2
BirdDog Posted October 1 Author Posted October 1 All good man! It is coming along quite nicely. Still open for any ideas and suggestions. I should have that request for the Hire Aircraft you asked for ready to deploy shortly. 1
Moneybox Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Just a quick question. How do you get on with endorsements? When I take a look at my logbook my flight instructors have amended my logbook by adding/stamping and singing my endorsements. 1

If you have a RPC then just print out your latest RAAus membership which will have all your endorsements on it. If you have a RPL then CASA has a form to reprint your license with all current endorsements for only $25 🙂 1 1

I’m looking to be able to itemise and log maintenance costs - but is that getting beyond the scope of your current endeavour ? 1

It seems like a good idea to have endorsements listed in your logbook - but you really don't need it, and there is no requirement under Part61 for that. You can get a reprint, but if you are CASA, they are listed on your license, etc. Same with the AFR now. In the CASA world the instructor signs your licence book, not your logbook. You can add notes into the flight record of the App, to say it was for an endorsement etc. 38 minutes ago, Reynard said: Birdog - I sent u an email, but I was primarily wondering how far you want to take this ? Getting a more detailed maintenance system to track costs and activities - So yes - we should see something soon. Happy to take whatever ideas you guys thing would work. 1
Reynard Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Any chance of adding ‘fuel type’ to the fuel purchase page ? Rotax drivers err toward ULP 95 or 98, but occasionally resort to Avgas. Rotax requires additional oil changes if Avgas is used for more than 30% of hours - hence the need to log fuel type. 1

Great idea! Done! I have added the full list of available fuels in a drop down list. I have also added it now to the Aircraft page, so you can choose a default type, so when you add fuel, it will automatically pick the default setting. (You can still change it if you use multiple fuel types) 2 1

Reynard Posted Sunday at 09:52 AM Posted Sunday at 09:52 AM Aah, thanks - not visible in portrait mode on an iPad mini.
Moneybox Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I’m too busy to get my history entered but the plane is parked in Jandakot now getting upgrades so hopefully I’ll get back to it soon.
BirdDog Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago UPDATE Hire Aircraft added to the system. This allows you to add a new flight in a hired aircraft. Have a look - send me any comments you need to. 🙂 1
Reynard Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Are you still considering the ability to itemise maintenance costs ?
