Pan Am Clipper Endeavour found after 75 years

I didn't know anything about this accident. Apparently the aftermath lead to standardised pre flight briefings for passengers. It seems most people would likely have survived in a more modern setting.

That Must have been one of the last DC-4  Production as the earlier types had square windows. The Aircraft was to planned to eventually be pressurised but that only happened with the Introduction of the Douglas DC-6 with the More Powerful P&W R-2800 engines, and higher flying Capability. Nev

The write up on the crash had it as poor maintenance. Apparently that airline had a string of issues with shoddy maintenance practices

How would they Know the Cause since the Plane has only just been found.? It was also not very Old. Pan Am was a pretty large show, flying long Routes . Years Later their  reputation degraded when they flew B 747's that were never washed. and Qantas Crews refused to deadhead on them because their accident record was poor.  They eventually went out of Business..Nev

Pan Am was an Enormous Enterprise for a long time.. It's worth spending a bit of time Looking over it's History, which ended about 1991. Airlines are often not a good investment and the Best performers have government contracts to support them. Flying near empty Planes is a quick way to go broke . I'd NEVER recommend investing in a Airline.  Piston Engined Planes operated nowhere near the safety level that Jet engines provided even though they were derated from the Military spec in RPT ops. One Nickname for the 3 tailed Lockheed was Super Consternation.  The Boeing  Strato Cruiser often lost Multiple engines on Long flights. Nev
