In todays complex world we rely on specialists. My butcher doesn't fix my spine. Some times a LITLE knowledge is dangerous.  It's what you DON'T know that Brings you unstuck. Nev

The simple problem with aircraft is that you don't have the luxury of lots of time to do fault-finding, or to think at length about what may be going wrong. Seconds count, in almost every case of flight upset.

Not at ALL Jack. It was a general statement, and it's harder than ever to get "Good GEN" and everything is More complex. The car also got greased and oil changed every 1000 Miles and had a crank handle. Nev

Well, I try to make sure I open my mouth with the right info, but like everything today, complexity brings differing interpretations.

And even specialists can be wrong, to certain degrees?  Fundamentally, its hoped with the pooling of knowledge should mean we have some kind of a correct answer, in general.
I guess a full investigation, is hoped to realise an accurate outcome?

The media? Forget that, there is no pride in media accuracy, anymore?

It makes me smile when I see a car with the Bonnet up. Just WHAT is there that you are Likely to be able to fix?  Also note you can drive ML-Sydney without seeing a car stopped on the side of the road. The NEWER stuff is far better.. The HUME is the safest road in the Country.  That is about development. Like Planes, it works when it's working. When it doesn't, call the experts. Nev

I was on the first Airbus A300 B 4 course for a twin aisle (Jumbo)Plane in Toulouse about 1981 that flew Internally here (Au) and we reckoned the Airbus Philosophy was to Make a Plane THAT you could  CREW it BY SHAKING a Palm Tree & Putting a Uniform on whoever fell out of it . It was supposed to cover whatever you Missed by warnings and support actions like automatic go around if no wheel spin up or ALPHA FLOOR full Power if you got slow etc The Course was  about 57 days  However and Very well done and costly. Some of the Older people had trouble with the change of philosophy. and also one of their Own Pilots turned one into a chainsaw later on a demo Flight when it landed in Pine trees. You'd often hear Pilot's saying "what's the Bloody THING doing Now"? Nev
