Lyndon Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Im pre wiring my wings and fuselage for a tail and wing tip lights. In not running any lights but want the wire for future proofing for LED lights Do I need some or all shielded. 20awg with 4 to 5 wires in each run. Any advice would be great Lyndon
sfGnome Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Assuming you are only using LEDs (ie low current, low voltage), then you don’t need shielded. Of course, the other option is to just run a string through lightweight corrugated conduit, and then you can pull through whatever wires you actually need when the time comes. 3 1

As for shielded wire - LED aircraft light suppliers would be your best informer. In the past (old tech?) I have read of light systems that caused radio interference. Three questions for you; Why 5 wires? Why do you think you might add lights at a later date? What is the aircraft? 😈
Lyndon Posted November 17 Author Posted November 17 (edited) Kitfox. I don't intend on having the aircraft long-term. The next buyer may want it. If they wig wag I think 5, if not definitely 4.
