Reported as safely in a paddock no injuries the jab haters jumped on it straight away. it could have run out of fuel. it doesn't automatically mean the engine had a fault. 1
facthunter Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 People who own Jabiru Motors have put up with with a lot of crap over the years. It's really not fair. . 2 strokes have by far the Highest failure rates and some rare old engines would be worse still. Flown with due regard for the risk and a suitable choice of location it's all manageable. A lot of the stats were due to management. running out of fuel is seemingly becoming more common. This comment is general, not directly referencing this incident. Nev 1
Jabiru7252 Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 That was MY jab until a few years ago! Never had a thing go wrong, always started first go, purred like a kitten. Sold it because I'm the one that's likely to have an engine failure. 🤪 1 2 2
440032 Posted May 8, 2025 Posted May 8, 2025 I've personally had several Jabiru engine failures over the years. Calmly identified the problem, selected fuel ON, restarted, then resumed my taxi to the runup bay. 2 4
kgwilson Posted May 8, 2025 Posted May 8, 2025 (edited) Me too. The engine was running perfectly & I shut it down but could not get it to start again. I did all the trouble checks and found that the mags had to be on before it would run. Who woulda thought. Edited May 8, 2025 by kgwilson 4
