just got a email from a battery bunch I have bought bateries from in the past

They have in production new Graphene improved Lithium Ion batteries. 300Wh/kg  = 1.08 MJ/kg. not bad !

and quite safe according to their blurb.

Are they  ' standard AA ' size, ?. And lighter.  Rechargeable! .
