With a minuscule 400 metre runway that shoots off a 600 metre cliff, forget trying to land here, it’s the take-off that is extreme! Dependent on high winds to help the plane take-off by the end of the strip, planes usually have to endure a drop down the cliff face until they become air born…

Bear in mind that Matekane is also at around 8,000' amsl, enough to make any non turbo aircraft feel a wee bit lethargic:eek:

Yeh! Well that explains dropping off the edge to get it flying :-)

I guess the third bounce is a holyyyyyyyyyyyssssshshhhhhiiiiiiitttttttt,,,,,,,ggggooooiiiinnnnngggg aaaarrr,,,,,,,,,,
