the blades are usually fibreglass?carbon fibre with steel or titanium inserts. as you can see from the pics, the rotor head has dug a small trench, so the remains of the fibreglass and carbon have done a few revolutions through the dirt.

Qantas going broke? according to their CEO, and past CEO's Qantas has been going broke for over a decade now... and about to announce a $500 Million profit this year.... yeah, their going broke.... :csm: ( i remember taking a Pay freeze in 2001 to save the company, only to see 1 man walk away with 1/4 of the companies profits in a bonus! not happy)

story is here, he has done a few flights now, across the English Channel, and across the grand Canyon, i think he is a Singapore Airlines Captain during the day.

If you want something bullet proof and reliable, and get in and out of anywhere, you cant go past a Savannah.
Cruise at 87 Kts for 6 hrs hrs endurance, take off and land at MTOW in under 100 mtrs. (makes the option for forced landings a lot more plentiful) Rotax 912 reliability, Climbs at 10oo Ft/min 2 up with full main tanks. (1 up and 1/4 in each main and you will get to 1000 ft circuit height after just 1000 mtrs over the ground or half the length of the strip at WYOL) good payload (280 empty, MTOW 560) and good for bigger blokes as well. and fly doors off for summer!

I hear rockhamton has good security, just open a gate, peddle across the tamac, axe in hand and go chop up a Millitary chopper! no dramas, tv crew and all. and all he got was a small fine.... where were security?

also, from personal experience, dont fly above 5000 ft if you have anything close to what would normally be a cold or the "sniffles" climbing to 8000 plus and not being able to equalise the pressures in your inner ear is excruciating. and debilitating..

its been over a month now i havnt flown due to weather... dont worr,y there will be better days someday...

yes its normal, happens all the time at Wollongong with runway 34 and 08 in use during summer with the sea breezes. i will always use the most into wind runway, wheras some schools or pilots doing circuits prefer the 10 kts crosswind. but as long as you have a radio, listen and use it, maintain separation, then all is good.

Gliders dont crash when they turn, and neither does Bob Hoover doing his aerobatic routine in a medium twin, with 2 dead engines!
-
i think they should be following the technology in the new GM Volt, small torquey diesel engine turning a generator and running a brushless powerful electric engine.
-
Wow.... that will be awesome, pics please! :P

take it one step at a time, what your feeling is normal, then one circuit wil be a AhhHaa moment and it will all fall together, in the mean time, ask your instructor to look after things like radio calls, and downwind checks so you can concentrate on one thing, flying the aircraft and the pattern, once this becomes more second nature, then introduce things like the radio calls, and checks. but the key to a good landing, and circuit, is Look as far away as possible! right to the end of the runway and keep your eyes there!

94 Kts is the INDICATED airspeed, True airspeed is taking altitude and temp into consideration, GS is speed over the ground.

Aircraft Structures engineer by day, was part time flying instructor for 3 yrs.

cant wait to see them fitted to the aircraft! oh, and what are they worth?
-
That would be South Cronulla Beach and Port Hacking.

Upper height limit off sydney is 500 ft. that and a long zoom lens with a good polarizing filter, and you can get some great shots, especialy if you slow to about 40Kts!
-
what was the situation? if you complete a level steep turn, you can be lucky enough to fly through your own wake turbulence. or with 4 in the circuit, it can be quite easy to hit the turbulence from the aircraft in front of you.
