I've not heard of them leaking from the body. Perhaps it's leaking down the thread.
Vibration could have loosened it. Rubber engine mounts getting old?
If you have got 250 or 300 hrs on a sender in a bed mounted engine, that's a good life.
Longer life in a radial mount.
I think they are loctited in. Use a scribe to clean out all the old loctite in the oil pump housing and spray with contact cleaner to remove the oil.
The vdo senders that came with new engines had a brass anti-vibration ring pressed on.
Replacements don't have it. I have heard of people pressing it off the old and putting on the new but most don't worry about it. The effectiveness of it was dubious.....
Oh yeah, don't buy from the Rotax dealer. It's EXACTLY the same part you will buy anywhere else at 3 times the price....

No night flying in RAA. Day vfr only, 2 pob max. 600kg mtow for RAA rego aircraft. If you have ppl/rpl with controlled endorsement (it seems you have), you can fly RAA Factory built (24/23 rego) in controlled airspace.

Guard it well; mine disappeared after it slipped out of the plastic sleeve stuck to the window.
Ha ha. Mine used to do that all the time and I'd have to take a seat out to get it.
Now I just keep it inside in a side pocket.
Guess what? No one has ever asked "where is your rego? "

I'm guessing it's the VDO type?
There are 3 types. The vdo, honeywell and latest, Keller.

I would have thought 3 engines on a relatively light airframe (no bomb load, etc) would not have been too difficult to handle?
They seem to have a large rudder.

TBH, if I was the instructor, being kept circling for an hour during my medical emergency would have seemed a bit unfair.
There's a rule in first aid where you do not put more lives at risk of injury in a rescue.
Unfortunate for the injured it seems, but best in the end.

I could think of nothing worse, than being stuck up in the sky for hours on end, unable to get down!

Dead or injured is probably worse....?

I've read that in the Reno races, lots of tape is used and lots of gaps are sealed. Now we don't notice a knot or 2 but you would when racing. As far as fowler flaps are concerned, it was good advice to be cautious there because there might need to be some airflow from below to the top surface.
There was a guy at Reno who had his canopy taped! He cared more about winning than being able to get out.
The faster you go, the more the smaller improvements matter.
I would suggest 80 to 100 kts, extremely minimal improvements, if any at all.
100 to 140 kts, slight improvement. Maybe a knot or two.
140 to 180 kts, now we're getting somewhere. 5 to 10 improvement, maybe more.
200 kts plus. Any small improvement in aerodynamics will see results.

If there are no other strips around, what about applying as an "emergency" strip with fuel, WC and and assitance.
Maybe shire support for the approval if possible.

Out to Mt Augustus today via Gascoyne Junction.
Gascoyne Junction has a nice bitumen strip close to town with cable tie-downs..(No avgas I believe)
Accomodation in town and 95 ulp at the servo.
Servo was closed in the morning as it's a public holiday but there was a coin operated coffee machine.☺️ (Remember to bring gold coins)
I could almost see Mt Augustus looming from leaving GJ....80 odd miles away.
The worlds largest rock. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Augustus,_Western_Australia
Stopped in at the tourist park for a chat, drink and to "water the horse"....

I believe avgas is available on the station right next door (I landed on the station strip, PPR) but it's expensive.....
($2.48 at the BP bowser in Carnarvon but I'll stick to pulp).
A bit rough and thermally after midday so climbed to 8500 heading west back to Carnarvon. Much smoother but faced headwinds up to 36 kts. Had to keep an eye on the fuel burn at mid 60's ground speed. Winds subsided to "only" 15 kts so all good in the end.
Passed over Kennedy ranges on the return.
Such a barren and pre-historic landscape.

Thanks Turbo, for writing all that.?
(And no, I'm not being sarcastic......this time?)

As it is a Sukhoi I imagine it will perform well, won't take 20 years to get into service and will be cheap (relatively).
Reminds me of a US analysis of a Mig 25 after they got hold of an example.
Basically it come down to "Massive engine surrounded by fuel tanks"......lol.

Yes, we live in a throw away society unfortunately......
$100 an hour for a technicial with no guarantee he can fix it.
How many hours are you prepared to pay for?
I see motorola took over Vertex, so there maybe no parts.

Should have gone wireless.....at least for the bulk of it.
I now use wireless 100% and disconnected the home internet. (Pre paid, so only pay for what I actually use!)
Some years ago I disconnected the home (copper wire) phone as well so truely 100% off cable.
Mobile internet prices are getting cheaper and there is very healthy competition.
On 4G I can stream at least 720p and most times 1080p......
The good thing is that all(?) of this is privately funded.
By the time I'm ready to buy my next phone or tablet 5G will be mainstream. No input by me. No new plans, new connections or other inconvenience....
(Sitting here in remote Coral Bay writing this...on 4g...?)

Wow.....accomodation dries up fast.....

I wonder if Sport Pilot magazine actually advertised itself?
In a 4x4 magazine for example.
I've always believed the RAA and aviation in general have always "preached to the converted" rather than seeking members in other sports and hobbies.

I imagine a with a 582 diaphragm pump you would get more pulsations in pressure over a 912 or Jabiru mechanical pump.
If going with an electronic gauge, you would definately need a restrictor or dampener of some sort to smooth it out I think.

What could possibly go wrong anyway....?
....... and so began Manwell's descent into insanity.......

I'm not sure about commending the control tower.
If they were doing their job properly this situation would not have arisen in the first place?
