  1. Sounds good but because operators do not provide mogas at aerodromes and some engines use it (2 strokes etc) I think discrimination etc would raise its head.
  2. He would obviously be still paying his hanger fees so ask john, the owner, where he is?
  3. Local airports are seen by councils as a source of ready free money when they are sold. Users etc dont matter, its all about the bottom line these days. Our local airport is now privately owned and it o-pened a can of worms with the purchaser trying to gouge money out of hanger owners etc for services alraedy in place, and access to runways. The airport is falling apart, looks like crap and does not have a good feel any more. Try suggesting local councils sell football feilds and sports grounds and see how far you get. Greed pure and simple.
  4. Used to..(belongs to) Slartibartfast ( last posted 2016)
  5. This aircraft attended many of the flyins and was seen at most, if not all, events for a few years. The then owner was as keen as mustard. Canberra public servant so may be on transfer etc etc. Nice chap.
  6. Theres an aircraft I knew for a while, havent seen it for a couple of years now. Was very impressed with it, and its pilot.
  7. Used to carry camping gear, airbed collapsed, cooking gear and fueling stuff etc on the floor and seat on the passenger side (removed the second stick so it would not be interferred with.) Flew all over NSW as far as Camerons corner and Broken hill as well as the north of the state (Inverell and Armidale ) from Goulburn in this configuration. Never had a problem and never over weight.
  8. I only used one jerry can (20lts) and just used a suitcase trolley (5 inch about wheels. Carried it collapsed with my camping gear on the passengers side. Flew an Xair standard. Plenty of room in the cab for a rag and tube.
  9. Collapsible jerry can and collapsible suitcase trolley for that walk into town if needed.
  10. yep we are, I suggested carry carnet and credfit card. Worked for me all over NSW etc (including the outback...dont quite get the drift of the discussion. If Avgas aint available, use unleaded premium and carry additive if necessary in the boot.
  11. why not get a suit of carnet cards and carry a credit card as well. Covers all bases.
  12. Made up a car fuel pump (12v) that plugged into the dash of the aircraft, used it to syphone via a spear into the fuel tank into the aircraft fuel tanks. Plenty of pump to get from ground into wing tanks and it can be unplugged and stored in the luggage area or under the seat etc. Just need a container for the fuel. (collapsible jerrycans are available and it would only be for short periods, not permenent storage.) NB car pumps are sealed and as long as they are earthed, no spark problems. Used mine for a number of years with no problems.
  13. Dont forget to use a Mr Funnell or equivalent to sort out water etc in fuel from suspect pumps. Saved me once in the outback....just sayin. (also, MoGas in motors that allow it does not have the lead polution of spark plugs etc that av gas does.
  14. Went through 2 sets of these in short order, Useless in hard ground, the screw part snaps off leaving you with a tent peg. I used the star picket idea and never had a problem in 6 years.
  15. What, Journalists actually thinking and checking facts??? As if...lol
  16. How many use a combination of both....such as....3ft 27cms? etc.
  17. its called progress, pay more for executive expenses and extras that we really dont need but make executives feel better.
  18. Maybe refuel at Bathurst, mudgee and gunnedah if travelling that way?
  19. no such thing as a dumb question, only dumb answers
  20. The first year and second years of Temora were an out standing success. The first year, there were over 1000 aircraft on the ground on the saturday . ...Obviously a failure. (then the jaffas and empire buil;ders got involved)
  21. Carol was the organiser of the exceptionally successful ones, but she was knifed in the back and RAA decided that they could "do it better". We all know how that turned out. Politics and empire building are not conducive to having a successful organisation that actually allows the members to do what the organisation originally set out to do. Dont tell me this is "progress" and "the way of the world. Rubbish. Let good people do what they are good at and things work well, redesign the elephant by committee and political empire builders with rules and egos and ,you have the current RAA set up. Carol should have been lionised, instead she was shut down and bypassed. There was a woman who had members interests at heart and was prepared to go the extra mile for them. She got very little out of it, not even the genuine thanks of the management of the organisation.
  22. They had it, they blew it, politics and empire building I suppose.
  23. Given the expenditure on OZkosh and the tripping around the country by management, do we need another national event this year. Will they charge admission to flyers flying in to pay for it. If its blown out cast wise I forsee another disaster...shame.
  24. Sounds like they are going to regulate the average older working man/retiree with a home built rag and tube out of the skies. Those without large bank funds who just fly for the sheer pleasure of it.
  25. I agree but dont hold your breath for ELAAA to tell you anything. Good to see their holding courses but would have been nice to know.. How many increases in membership and rego fees from RAA is that in the last 3 years?
