  1. Yep, perpetuate the mistake because the yanks say so, works for me...
  2. I have had an ASIC for 5 years now. Never been asked for it at any aerodrome I have landed at. Does the Asic only apply if you leave the flight side and want to return, or is it in vogue all the time. Seem to me that if you land at an airport, refcuel and then take off without leaving the airside then it is useless and unenforceable...am I correct?
  3. Gunnedah has fuel, run by the local aeroclub. The contact number is in the ERSA. You will need to contact them to come out and unlock the pump. They are a friendly mob and good for a chat. Used them a few times when flying the Xair from Goulburn to Armidale and Inverell. The profits go to the local aero club so worthwhile using them. Good strip to.
  4. garbage, us spring chickens resemble that remark...!!!
  5. so move 5km to Queanbeyan in NSW just up the road, not all round the state.......!! n asnd keep the same staff, not train new ones and get rid of the expertise we already have. Its not rocket science folks...!!!
  6. Does the average RAA Aus member really care where the HQ is?. Most of us never go there, contact only by mail or email, and really want to be left alone to fly. Seems that we might be thinking of spending members funds on something that may be better off left lie and have the funds spent on more important things like reducing membership fees, etc etc.
  7. Yep, I must be a GA reject because I am definitely not a GA wannabe....
  8. Just a thought, what about eh staff we have employed. Nick has hit the nail on the head. Who will move, who wont, what expertise will we loose, etc etc. Does it really need an airstrip attached? If so, why?.
  9. clear prop with the current link works for me, used it, liked it.
  10. Eightknots.. who wants a german holden logo..!!lol
  11. I would also be in the market for a couple....
  12. will avplan be able to use the adspi raspberry pi device?
  13. Leave it as it is and come up with a printable, sewable, one for the other stuff.....just my opinion
  14. Try the oaks, you might even get a coffee? Good crowd.
  15. does anyone know what the acceptance cert limit is for the Xair Std. Told it was 544, then Raa Aus said 490kg.
  16. Nope, Xair doesn't have a transponder so no worries...
  17. When the engines off, I thought the priority would be getting it on the ground, not joining the circuit and being pretty about it. Circular decent over the airfield so you can at least put it somewhere flat.
  18. That's where glider time comes in helpful. No engine, no panic, fly the aircraft.
  19. who said that fun is all about economics? hell, if I was that worried about paying fir a hobby then I wouldn,t do it. Tube and fabric..2 stroke...slow and fun. sounds like a recipe for fun to me. Remember folks, this is meant to be a recreational activity, not a "whose got the biggest........activity. I do this for fun, what do you do it for?
  20. may be the thread should be retitled "bad experience with Jabiru Engine" The actual aircraft seem to be great...
  21. Lumpy hot weather, good for developing bump tolerance....!!
  22. lumpy hot weather, good for developing bump tolerance...
  23. I use the internet share on my phone to connect to the ipad and ozrunways. No problems to date.
  24. My Xair, purchased as a kit, then purchased a motor, instruments etc cost me all up (built it myself, 19.. registered and then trained in it as the builder after the 25hrs had been flown off, made for very affordable flying.) cost me about 28K all up. Resale seems to be about 17 - 20k so relatively cheap flying. Who the hell has 100,000 plus to spend on an rec aircraft. I would be too worried about scratching it. I can go aanywhere they can go, albeit slower but then it is RECREATIONAL flying, not business flying. I do it for relaxation not ulcers.
