  1. yep, one of the best additions I made a fixed trim tab, allows them to be flown hands off when set correctly. No, its not a spitfire, but then it depends what you want. Nothing wrong with wanting any aircraft, large or small, to fly correctly and comfortably. Try correcting trim without a tab for 7 hour , multi stop trip and then say its not required....lol
  2. to memory, roughly 20lts/hr. Engine 582 with oil injection. I extended tanks to take 90 ltrs. Aoso carried 20lts in a jerry can on pass seat with portable fuel pump to transfer in flight if needed. Refuel from Goulburn at Griffiths, Ivanhoe and Broken hill. Then at car punp at packsaddle roadhouse and Cameron Corner. Same in reverse. Plan was then Innaminka and Birdsville but the conditions were against me so a very pleasant 3 days at the corner and then return. Ivanhoe required a short walk into town to get furel, Packsaddle was a creative landing and rewfuelling..nod nod. Absolutely no problems with engine or fuel... Caming gear on floor in cabin and cooking gear in small luggage compartment behind seat. Great trip Photo is cameron corner.
  3. had a small fixed trim tab attached to my ruder on my Xair. Once adjusted, flew hands off in a straight line. Simple but effective.
  4. I have a photo from my aircraft showing raa sticker (as required) wiith 544kg as the legal weight. (from Raa-aus). Jared needs to read the previous requirements and publish his reasons.
  5. added a "camel hump" on the back of the existing fuel tanks...fibreglass with connecting holes to existing tank. Went from 50lts to 94 lts...because COG is over the wheel centres the change to cog was minimal, still within spec. Made the Aircraft a longer distance machine... eg..brakon hill from Goulburn...fuel at Griffith and Ivanhoe... The pic shows the pass side, the pilots side had a similar extension. Very important to use the right ester as one ius fuel safe and the other breaks down. Cant remember which one I used but it lasted a number of years before I sold it and no sign of breakdown or trouble.
  6. What is their reasoning, Mine was registered at 544 and I had no problems flying 2 up with solid built people. Mine was bought as 544, registered for years at 544. I extended the fuel tank to 90 lts. Extra weight not a problem. Flew all over the state, flew to cameron corner, plane performed great. Someone is having a moment at Raa aus.
  7. just give 3 calls...downwind, base, and final gives everyone your location. Much safer. After va few close calls when only one call given, I always use 3. You cant wear your radio out and 3 calls can save your a...s
  8. been tried a while ago, died a death for some reason. Ian (admin) may have the details. Be nice to have but if wishes were dollars etc etc
  9. Make all the calls. If they know where you are then it makes it safer for you and them. I had a couple of close calls because trainees from city based schools did not make calls and I only avoided a collision because I was lucky enough to see them. Safety first, make all calls even if some consider it excessive.
  10. Merge the two Ian, sounds reasonable given your post at the start of the topic.
  11. Sorry Turbs, a lot more than 8 RA owners at Goulburn when owned by council, also an RA and GA school (busy most of the time), many RA aircraft in hangers, and a good feel to the airfield. Place went to crap after the council sold it. The owner tried to victimise and blackmail hanger owners, placed restrictions on runway usage etc etc.
  12. If you wish your children to step outside the state funded system then you should have to pay. Not the state. Your choice to step aside, you pay. Not me, not other peole who do not have kids at private schools, you. Simple really. If you dont like the public system then you choose the private system, just dont ask us to pay for it.
  13. used to practice them all the time, power off and on, also had a biennial test that involved recovery from stalls in steep turns, good fun
  14. If there is a second runway at an angle to the one used for take off, surely that can be used to lessen the angle of turnback
  15. Unfortunately I cannot but member 10.5 or Volksy68 may have that information. I was dealing with a few issues at the time.
