  1. I watched his you tube vids over and over again before my check ride for rpl, next day I did some of my best landings ever consistently. The timing of the flare using the width of runway expansion was very useful. I should do again as they are getting untidy again.

  2. I had a spare cut for 182F from local key and shoe man, being older it may have been a more common blank, not much good though as security, a local opened it for me in about 30 seconds with a lock pick one day when I left key at home, hence spares now in bag.

Nice looking 182 in your pic Country Flyer.

    Cheers

  3. Seems to me the building trade & supply have never converted - even when its in M its still mostly in the old Imp dimensions

caravans are the same, who designs a window cutout at 914mm by 565 mm or 280 mm by 1524mm. Doors are 622mm by 1823mm/1750/683 high. awnings are sold in feet measurements, alloy cladding covers 254mm deep (10") good fun when trying to get customers to provide an awning length the correct way when they dont want to come in first for me to check.

  4. Had a short run from Somerton to Baraba today, took a NZ farmhand for his first light plane ride.

I aborted my first take off when I wasn’t accelerating enough, first time doing it for real and didn’t stuff it up, I was just off the ground and not gaining speed. I know what my error was, a little too keen to get airborne with back pressure. My passenger took it well and didn’t ask to hop out. I went back uphill to the start, held the brakes a bit longer and was correctly airborne in half the distance.

the rest of the flight went excellent. Nice walk into Baraba for a coffee, then a run around the mural on the silos, Manila at 1000 feet agl over Lake Keepit from one end to the other at around 700 agl and onto the farm strip.

a great day and a new friend made.

  5. There are also certain groups with a lot to lose if it all gets sorted and the longer it stays the more they gain. Who got the most money for the least effort?

I think the unemployed, a friend of mine bought a new shotgun and has so far banked about 6k extra and spent nothing on going nowhere. I had to spend $4k with the accountant to get some business help, and I think we get taxed on the income, so less than a third of it lands in your hand to pay the things it was for. Almost like a save the African children campaign.

  6. Another reason I will not have a diesel or gas heater in a caravan....

Hi Jack, good quality diesel heaters like the dometic one are safe, their intake and exhaust are outside, only air over the head fins heats the van. fitted probably 100 of them now, I don’t like the gas ones by truma, exhaust and inlet are inside and prone to leaking if installed poorly. They do cut off f intake breathes fumes from exhaust inside the intake tube. Cheap Chinese copies should be avoided, they are poorly done with no safety features. One customers read 190c on the heating outlet when I tested out of curiosity last week. That will melt clothes, shoes etc, and burn you if not careful.
