    39r79r and 37 89r Hi Guys, Usually flying the Aerochute around YCAB but have recently converted to HP 3 axis in 3979 and had 1st Nav YCAB YGYM YWSG YCAB a week ago in 3789 with Zane in the RHS. Another Pilot did a reverse Nav in 3979 and we left 1 minute apart, total of 2.2hrs inc 6 circuits and taxi. Our inbound calls into YCAB 10nm from home were 15 seconds apart. It was amazing. I do agree that 3789 has a bit more get up and go but with a TTIS of under 500hrs compared to over 4000hrs in 3979 you might expect that. I actually think 3789 is softer in Turbulance. They are great aircraft to fly and excellant trainers with their steel spring undercarriage. Congrats on your endorsements so far, no doubt we will run into each other around YCAB.:thumb_up:

    Yeah, for ground speed and distance from field. When your airspeed is only 30knts S & L you need to keep an eye on wind at different altitudes so you can get home.

    I hire and fly a Tecnam Echo and X Country endorsement is underway BUT I also own an Aerochute and always will because your out there with the elements. Its not something you fly to somewhere its just something you fly around. Flew at YCAB on 11/10 and had a play with a new Helmet Cam, Contour HD - see http://www.adventurecamshq.com.au/d10/contour-hd/ I posted the clip on youtube (had to split into parts 1 & 2) - hope you enjoy. About 5 mins each. For best results watch on youtube site, let them download first, then turn on the sound and go to full screen.

    Very interesting subject, have a read of these. Looks like there is benefits but a bit of R & R needed to get shape right and how far downstream to place.     My 2 cents worth. I've been looking around coming to grips with what fixed wing aircraft I would like to own. I've only flown in a few Tecnams, Savannagh's but all powered by Rotax (also my own 503). I like the look of the Jab's and Aussie and better Qld product BUT I look at the For Sale adds and many have different hours Engine to airframe etc and not big airframe hours, new heads etc. This is even aparent on the Jab site. From reading this thread I can see many people love their Jabs and a lot are very hands on mechanically and maybe thats what Jabs need. For me, I don't want to increase risks of engine out unnecessarily especially as my kids are most likely my passengers. I wont buy an aircraft powered by a Jab motor, I understand the process of time and use to make them better and i'm sure they are a lot more reliable now than previous BUT for me i'll go Rotax. Pity Jab don't have a rotax option.

    Communication I've only been flying a short time, a couple of years in PPC's and now up to circuits in fixed wing. I fly Caboolture which shares 118.8 with Redcliffe and Caloundra. I use "(location) traffic" as taught but after reading this thread like "Traffic (location)". Not catching the location will distract you from tasks at hand. I've only been a pilot for a short time but I have been around for quite a while. The intention of communication is for the other party to understand what you want them to know, in life or on the radio. KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid). Teach how to communicate clearly and simply and how to operate a radio.

    Hi Rocketman, Put on a photo of a Buckeye so we can see. Whats the Stats i.e power plant etc. I am getting bigger prop will give up to 30% more power for better lift.

    Hi Barandbrew, The A'chute has an air speed of 30knts (app. 55kph) if you've got wind at 20 kph then youll have a ground speed of 75 in one direction and 35 in the other. In the middle of a hot day it can obviously get bumpy and gusty wind may be uncomfortable. The manufacturer recommends fly in winds under 15 knts. We all fly for the enjoyment of it and the best time to fly in tropical climates is early or late. In the cooler months you can fly all day. I usually like to get to the field do checks and warm up and get in the air just after 6am, fly for 45mins, pack up get home and start work at 7.30. Great way to start the day. Its quick to prepare and packup and easy to trailer. Whats your location, I may be able to give you a contact to go for a fly.

    Hi Deskpilot, Your right about just your feet in front of you. Even in the A'chute mag all the spectacular photo's from around the country always have a sandshoe in them. I've considered Gyro's, had a fly with Allan Wardill up here and yeah interesting. Also taking some fixed wing lessons. The A'chute is easy to trailer and at the end of the day if needed the Parachute is already up there.

    Hi Bruce, I'm looking forward to seeing the Big Red Chute in the air, yeah this forum is a good medium, all our Pilots are RAA so can utilise.

    Aerochute Controls Hi Thomo, The Parachute is controlled by 4 control wires on each side attached to the Trailing Edge. See pic of my flying away with right hand down. This slows that side of the wing which causes the machine to turn right. Pulling down both toggles at the same time causes the wing to slow down and the machine to Pendulem forward - Flare. See video's on manufacturers website www.aerochute.com.au Hi BLA82, been up in the Echo and Sierra today, Am hoping to take the Aerochute up early tomorrow Saturday say 6 till 7am weather permitting.

    Why handle the prop. I fly an Aerochute which has a Rotax 503, The training syllabus advises - chokes on, fuel on, prime fuel, Ignition Off - pull the starter 3 times ( or 3x 2 second hits with the electric start). Either way well away from the prop. Then Ignition on .......... May not be suitable for the 4 strokes. I am currently training in a Technam Echo with a 912 and go through the "Burping" procedure as instructed on that type.

    Hi BLA82, maybe me you saw although couple others time to time. Also started some fixed wing with Zane at Prosky in the Echo. I love the Aerochute and its fexibility, trailer, Stol etc. but also interested in flying A to B. Aerochute industres currently awaiting ok from cab aero club to conduct commercial tifs and training but a long time coming. I've been a Member at YCAb for over a year and getting to know a few of the charachters. What do you fly, ?
