BFR due so no flying until a solution is found or an extension is granted.
I hope this and a host of other deadlines will be extended to allow the community to cope with this emergency. Home loan repayments will surely have to be included. There is a movement to ban foreclosures and evictions.

When we,re all electric the animal and avians, won,t hear us coming, without the noisy engine.
spacesailor
That already applies to Teslas and pedestrians.

The saying I’ve seen and heard many a time is - What your wearing is your survival kit. What’s stored about the aircraft is your camping kit.
Wear it or loose it...
I agree. Once you escape a pranged aeroplane you may not have the option of going back.
I religiously wear my GPS-equipped GME on my belt and sometimes practise ripping the pouch open and simulate deploring the aerial.
I also carry it when bushwalking and motorcycling.
One aspect not often discussed: a PLB is useless unless you activate it; don't assume that every emergency gives you an opportunity.
A crash-activated beacon is a whole other animal.
One more thing: don't discard a used beacon. When the battery is on its last legs some units are programmed to start transmitting. I know volunteers who've spent all day responding to an alert, only to find the offending item buried in a garbage dump.

...experience has shown me you cannot present facts and rational argument about global warming...
That applies to both sides of the debate.

I understand why the authorities want to curtail unneccesary movement of people, but we should be allowed to go for a local flight and return to the same location.

A bunch of flyers flew in for an impromptu cuppa at our club yesterday. People tried to maintain a bit of distance. Perfect flying weather.

If you can’t figure it out, I can’t help you.

Well be that as it may. My point is that if the various Bristell models are retested with regard to spin recovery and are found to meet the standards, then CASA should remove their restriction.
A new round of testing (especially if done in the light of the fatal crashes) might throw up a simple fix, such as strakes, or changes to the allowable CoG range. The engineer mentioned by M61A1 is renowned for his ability to "fix" the bad aspects of existing aircraft designs.

...Can't imagine life without Wreck Flying...
Listen here Sue: most of us may be old and decrepit, but no need to write us off completely!

I recall a story about restaurants with no prices. After eating, patrons were free to pay what they thought the meal was worth. The concept apparently enjoyed limited success, but it may work on this site.

Many people misquote the saying as "money is the root of all evil", but the original saying is "the love of money, is the root of all evil".
We need money for our economies to operate, it is when an overwhelming greed for money takes over a persons life, or a corporations aims, that it becomes a cardinal sin.

... If every member became a first class member there should be enough cash to keep running although perhaps not enough to keep Ian fed.
This site seems to have become an expensive hobby for Ian- and we have been the beneficiaries.
We should at least raise enough to cover his costs, such as rental payments for the server.
Many of us could afford a nominal subscription. Upon my retirement I rationalised my subscription outlays to just a few worthwhile ones.
Collectively they cost less than many people spend on beer or coffee.

I am thinking Facebook might be the way to go, everyone else has gone their
Quite a few of us will never will join Facebook or any of the others.
This site is a lifeline for lots of people, so it's worth paying for. If everyone chipped in a few bob a week (less than we spend on beer or coffee) it might make all the difference.
It amazes me that Recreationalflying, of world importance, is built and paid for by one person of very limited means. Perhaps it's time to fundamentally change the ownership structure to make it financially viable and allow Ian a bit of breathing space to look after his own interests a bit better.

There is no chance of the US government letting Boeing collapse; it's not just their only national builder of airliners, it's a major supplier of their weapons.

What's that saying? "Use it or lose it"?
I operate my engines every week where possible?
It's good advice, but not many of us get the opportunity; and that doesn't just apply to aircraft engines.

Make sure you have a 50 year lease signed before you start building. The Armidale Aeroclub put a lot of time and effort in building and maintaining a clubhouse. The rent went from peppercorn rent to $1000 a year then before too long to $4000 a year, they were trying to question the last increase when the lease ran out. The council then threatened them with eviction for non payment. The airfield is run as a purely commercial enterprise to maximise income, community doesn't enter the equation. I haven't heard what the outcome is, it appears the council will evict them and rent the building out commercially.
The Mayor is a really decent bloke and also a member of the Aeroclub, hopefully he will be able to talk the council round to sense. As with most councils now they are run by the CEO not by the people.
Relocate your building to a more suitable location.

Thanks for the video, which was a welcome distraction to the pandemic that dominates all our media.
As probably everywhere else, in Australia lots of people are staying home and avoiding contact with potential sources of Covid-19.
Although we don't understand your language (which came thru clear and LOUD), it was interesting to see the beautiful countryside. Beautiful flying weather, but a little bumpy.
That looked like a large river delta and wetland on the edge of a lake. Where is this? (I will look it up on Google Earth.)

Welcome to the forum K & D. We have members from all over the planet, so you fill in a few geographical gaps!
Tell us about recreational flying in Russia. All I know is that this impressive machine was built in your country a few years ago:

"Perspex/acrylic resists scratches much better and lasts much longer, but Lexan/polycarbonate can cope with pretty much anything hitting it. Just don't get fuel on it."
How about the two of them, sort of loose laminated, fuel resistant outside and Lexan/polycarbonate strength inside, shouldn't be too heavy,
spacesailor
I like the idea- pretty much the same sort of thinking that went into Japanese swords, which had a hard core that could hold a sharp edge with more flexible steel laminated each side.

For those who can choose what material to make their windscreen from:
Perspex/acrylic resists scratches much better and lasts much longer, but Lexan/polycarbonate can cope with pretty much anything hitting it. Just don't get fuel on it.

... If you’re using an EFB, it’s useless unless you have phone coverage....
That's an issue I'd like clarified, Ryanm. While I haven't noticed mine drop out in remote areas, I have seen a mate's OzRunways icon disappear while I was watching him cross some Yowie country. I thought the worst, but he reappeared a few km further on, presumably when he re-entered mobile coverage.

I guess we should read this site's Events with the pandemic in mind; even small gatherings may be affected.
Our club had a good-sized monthly BBQ last Saturday, and handshaking was noticeably absent.

No, I didn't. Strange that you should see it that way.
- Who are these “best brains” that say Australia “could be a clean energy superpower” ?...

- “...problems caused by our over-dependence on coal, oil and gases” Considering Australia has all that in abundance, the ‘problem’ for Oz is self inflicted by Greeny political stupidity...
Where is all this oil we have in abundance?
The main stupidity was the Howard government selling North West Shelf gas for a song, denying our own manufacturers access.
...I think Chauvel’s thoughts on his Mid East wanderings with the Light Horse cover it well - We shouldn’t be there and leave em to it...?At last: something we can agree on!

The XPB Stage 1 underway.

Thanks for this, Wayne. By far the clearest resource on this pandemic.
It got my attention. Even though I haven't been a smoker, I have the early stages of emphysema.
This virus could kill me.
If only our own government could communicate so clearly.
