  1. Hey Bull if it were me I might think of a better title for the thread....being finally legal infers there was a time, perhaps extended, when you were not legal...... being not legal infers you were flying when you should not have been......not having membership or certificate and not flying is still legal.....just grounded..... I suspect you refer to the lather scenario and not one of taking to the air and to hell with the regs!Andy

    P.S Silence is golden here!

And as an aside I have always held a student certificate and have always flown under expert legal supervision as per the """REGS'' by qualified CFI,s,,,,,So I,ll leave the title as is as it refers my opinion of the way "RAA""AKA theAUF / has gone since those early days Andy [pre 84]......cheers Scott...................................

I did get to Bowen River for the first time last Sunday with Bill in his Cherokee 180 hence being behind in my Nynja jobs list (Why do maintenance and new fitout stuff when a flight to somewhere new in offered.)Cheers and see you at Old Station.

Ah hem ,you are right about flying without a ticket ,,,BUT and this is a BIG legal BUT ,,,,,,when I started flying around ,,WE did not need a """certificate ""and we where not allowed over 300 feet either LOL so its taken me since then to be ""LEGAL"" as Wink Wink I haven,t flown since then AH<<<<<<<<<lol

  5. Hello and welcome sir. love those 500,s just sold mine after 4 years of great flying and ferried here again last wednesday to give her new owner some consolidation practice at childers strip.Though I admitt to beine extremly biased I consider these birds to be the ideal first aircraft for starting pilots when all aspects are considered (pricing factory backup and build quallity) ps the new company is working well to. What caused me to sell her was buying my storch which is an amazing bird its self. Isis club at childers had a great breakfast flyin yesterday with 15 birds of all types attending and great company its a quarterly thing and you should consider comming on down probably as a campover due to the distance as I think their is common ground in relation to bureauracy as well. Regards Mick

Certainly will, Mick as I intend to be well seen in my new stead ,,,cheers

  6. Glad your back. Even will all the frustrations, rules and regs and RAAus politics in the end it is all about getting your ar$e in the air. That is all that counts.

Thanks Octave ,it,s good to be back ,and now I can go somewhere too, what with 70 kt cruise and 3 hours endurance look out flyins lol

  7. Nope Bull sorry but that choice is not made by the pilot, but rather by CASA.Monopoly isn't absolute across all classes of aircraft. For example if you fly a trike you get to choose HGFA or RAAus as best suits you. If you flew hang gliders as well as trikes then it would make sense to belong to only 1 RAO being HGFA (better to only pay 1 membership per year than 2 separate ones). If like me you flew trikes and more traditional 3 axis aircraft then RAAus is the obvious way to go for the same reason.

Being a monopoly and being classed as a monopoly speaks more to the complete inability of anyone (human or Company) to set up an alternate. RAAus is not a monopoly in that if a bunch of you felt strongly enough, and were prepared to spend the money with CASA that they demanded and meet the requirements of an RAO that CASA separately requires then RAAus could end up with multiple competitors......

My gut however suggests that while CASA is pleased with RAAus they are very unlikely to look favourably on alternates when they infact see themselves as an alternate via RPL. Also understand that every competitor that is born and continues represents another organisation they have to provide annual funding to, and oversight of. So I wont hold my breath waiting for an alternate to spring up..... but equally my gut is not something I can rely on....a few years back I guess we went close to CASA probably almost looking to nurture and support an alternate to RAAus.....or killing the whole RAO approach off altogether.......the funding realities of the later probably meant that if things got worse for RAAus than they were at the time I'd have bet on them preparing an alternate in the background.

    Andy

    Thanks Andy

  8. Was just wondering {as us dumb fisherman do sometimes} that :if RAA becomes a "company"will members then have a right under the consumer laws to choose another "company"if they are not happy with RAA,s performance ,And will this then end RAA,s monopoly of being the one and only way to legally pursue our sport. Will we have a choice to pick another "company "?????

  9. Hi Bull I put this on the "Tell us about your last flight thread".Doug organised an overnight at Lakeside Airpark for local flyers who were planned to go to the cancelled Stark event. By mid afternoon he was organising more food as a bigger turn up was evolving. The weather was great and over night temp just right. Some after arriving flew locally or up to Airlie Beach landing at Shute harbour. The food was great and the hospitality terrific. There were plans afoot to redo next Easter in 2017. Thanks go to Gary and Doug and all who helped out. The furtherest to come was from Atherton and then Dave from Theodore. It was also the first good run for the Nynja with camp out gear and cloths stowed on board; went well so almost ready to go to Old Station in May. Cheers Mike

  11. You're doing OK. But obey your instincts. On posting images you are talking to one of the worst on this site, technically speaking, when you ask me, but believe me. I'm right behind the idea.. It's a POSITIVE thing and we have to try to be positive. A little while back I lost a particular friend but over the years there were quite a few others and I was ready to chuck it in. . I always push safety. Nev

Unfortunatly so did Ross, that's what makes it harder to believe, for me at least. I would not have flown my loehle without his guidance and advice.Anyway long drive in morning so I,ll retire for tonight ,thanks for replying and I,ll see how it goes cheers ,scott.

  12. Let me assure you, Bull that it isn't a condemnation of anyone. I wanted to get every image of him out from the start. It's there and available. He's dead and we can't change that, but the images are a record to be available to all . They certainly have had an effect on me, and I'm sure others too. I had modified part of the quote that you have the original of.. Nev

No worries Nev , sorry to have miss read your post my apologies,I,m pretty computer stupid so I don't know how it,s looking ,,any hint,s?

  13. The last thing I would want at my funeral is people making out I'm a good bloke or saying nice things because it's the thing to do. What I know of Ross ( and it's not a lot, but he posted stuff to me) He's not one for window dressing.. Nev

Is that meant for me?? cause I,m not trying to make Ross out to be anything,,,just a photo montiage to celebratethe life of a FRIEND as that is what he was to me ok.so if I,m doing anything wrong ,please tell me Nev.......cheers Bull aka Bully to some aka Scott Evans..
