So you'd also refuse membership to Cocky "If I had another f****n feather I'd fly" Bennett on the grounds of diminished structural intergrity?But I don't understand why Ian lets an Emu on his forum.... It's a FLYING forum !OME

I buy my non-aviation fasteners from these people: Cutting Tools, Fasteners and all your Hardware Needs | Bolts & Industrial Supplies
They are situated at Smeaton Grange, at the Narellan end of The Northern Road, about 40 minutes from Penrith.
They have a wide range of products, and are happy to sell in very small quantities.

Pop down to Red Baron on BK. The sky writer was storing 44s of skywriting oil there. There might be some around.

Thanks for your help everyone. I didn't know about the 23-, but that knowledge is useful to me.
Good night!

Can someone tell me quickly which type of registration would apply in these cases?
- A manufacturer builds an aeroplane from plans in its factory
- The manufacturer supplies the materials to build the aeroplane in kit form to a person who builds more than 51% of it without assistance from the manufacturer.

Ian,
Your first paragraph explains why these stories can't be accessed. The explanation reduces my frustration, but now there's the problem stated in the second paragraph.
As I see it, the news section as is now should be deleted as it's an annoyance not linking to stories. The sources are usually OK, but the search bot seems to latch on to anything with the word 'aerpolane' in it. That catches a lot of irrelevant stuff.
Not being an IT guru, I can't suggest solutions. Sorry.

I thought that it would be an easy calculation, based on the compressibility of soil and the force each wheel exerts on the ground. Unfortunately I could not get any typical values for soil compressibility, so without data, the calculation can't be done. I was wrong to suggest soil density had anything to do with it.How do you get the required bearing area from the soil density OME? rgmwaI suppose another way to do it would be to work out the area of the tyre's footprint. To do this, jack up a wheel and paint the tread for about a quarter of the circumference with anything that will act like ink, possibly engine oil. Then place a sheet of white paper on the ground under the wheel and lower the wheel onto the paper. Lift the wheel off and retrieve the outline of the tyre's footprint. The footprint should be somewhat oval in shape. For practical purposes, draw a tight fitting rectangle around the footprint and using the measurements for the length and width, make up a support pad which has the same or slightly greater area.

Whatever jack type you use, don't forget to include a solid base plate for the jack, otherwise it will sink into the ground.
- Try to locate the data obtained when your aircraft was weighed for weight and balance calculations. This will give you the weight borne by each wheel.
- Work out the dimensions of the base plate required to support this weight using these figures for soil density:
Dry density in g/cm3 *
Sand = 1.52
Sandy Loam = 1.44
Loam = 1.36
Silt Loam = 1.28
Clay Loam = 1.28
Clay = 1.20
Concrete = 2.40
Dry density for most soils varies within a range of 1.1-1.6 g/cm3
* Multiply these values by 0.001 to get an answer in kg/cm3

Caveat emptor . They should have looked at pictures of ME262 airfields.I hope the Vampire operator is well insured ! ! -
Oh dear! Performance anxiety. No matter how many times she says, "It's OK, love. I understand.", it's always in the back of your mind the next time.I also was only able to swing about once a week, and it took me hours to get to solo. Part of that was cancellations due to weather, other commitments on a weekend, both of which help you lose your flow.But looking back one of my problems was performance anxiety..

My apologies. I used the word "outlanding" in an attempt to distinguish what looked like a controlled landing with a bad stop, from the end result of a "plummet from the skies". Please bear in mind that I posted within half an hour of the incident, without having attended the scene, so I was trying to be as non-committal as I could. Besides, when the fan stops turning properly, you find yourself in a glider, anyway.

Told ya that Pauline would at least raise aviation matters since she's taken to using small aircraft to cover a lot of country.
Just shows to go ya that there's a grain of good in everyone.

Just before midday today (20/4/2017) a piper aircraft was damaged in an outlanding near Camden Airport (Sydney).
2 POB Survived landing, but condition not reported at time of post.
Ambulance and Helivac on site.
No fire. Aircraft on belly. Starbord wing destroyed. Looks like a PA-28 variant. Call letter not visible.

Another method is to use a liquid glue and stain remover. I've had success with Pascoe's "Oomph" which is sold in supermarkets. Apart from softening the glue holding the vinyl stickers on the the plane, it leaves a fresh, pleasant citrus smell. Non flammable. Australian made.

I've just removed similar vinyl lettering from the rear window of my son's car. I used a heat gun to soften the glue and a scraper to lift and separate the lettering from the glass. Same thing should work on the plane. If you don't have a heat gun, try a hair dryer.
And don't get confused and try to use a Playtex

Can't be. It flew over. If it was a Cessna it would plummet to the ground, but the heroic actions of the pilot would direct it away from the child care centre and adjacent retirement home.I rang a guy at the local newspaper and it's definitively a Cessna. -
That's basically the reason for the insurance. Be realistic, how much damage to people and property (apart from starting a bush fire) could you do with a light plane on a strip remote from settlements.but of course the kicker is if you don't have enough money
That seems to be the normal amount covered in car, boat and personal public liability policies.I think the question you should settle with the land owner is 'Who is liable for the maintenance of the strip including approach paths in a safe, usable condition?'I think the amount is 20 million as a good figure at the momentOME

Is it possible to re-install the facility to look at the last 24 hours activity back?
When I skim through entries, they become inaccessible. I often want to go back to an recent entry while I'm in a current session, but can never find them easily.
