Over the years a number of fellow pilots have told me they wouldn’t be comfortable flying an aircraft that they personally built…My counter comment these days is, I’m not comfortable flying a plane I didn’t build.
I’m exceedingly comfortable having my build quality and standard of finish measured against anything coming out of a “factory”.

He’s had considerable angst along the way with his chosen power plant, but doggedly preserved….I sincerely hope that he doesn’t come to regret his tenacity in that regard. 🙏

Just checking you familiar with the Rotax oil priming process utilising low pressure compressed air.

I wonder, is it the Subaru engine that typically fails or the PSRU bolted to it?

Is that fibreglass?
Carbon fibre reinforced polymer (composite). Boeing B787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 aircraft both feature a large percentage of flammable carbon fibre composite in their FAA/EASA certified aircraft….As do many modern type certificated GA and ASTM conforming LSA lighties.

Can you believe that poor bloke from Canada wants to spend time on his holiday interacting with the likes of us 😳
Maybe he’ll opt for a Rhine River cruise instead. 😜

I’m trying to determine how “RAA” (RA-Aus) became implicated in this post, given the accident occurred in the UK as a likely result of a component made and purchased in the USA 🤔….
In any event, I was informed by my CASA Authorised Person that it was not their job to determine the airworthiness of any experimental aircraft, nor could they deny a Special CoA, even if the aircraft was built out of Clag, paddle pop sticks and Bunnings bolts.
CASA will issue a AC21-4 Special Certificate of Airworthiness (Experimental) but the restrictions placed upon the aircraft as a result of their risk assessment (Test area, Phase 1 duration etc) may make it impractical.

Archerfield or Redcliffe will be your best options….Then use the 50 cent trains/buses.
The highway construction around Caboolture is a congestion nightmare at present.
Kilcoy is a good 1-1/2h drive from Brisbane and Watts Bridge will add another 1/2h to that.
Heck Field is 3/4h to 1h drive depending on time of day.

The owner hasn’t flown for more than a decade and isn’t listed on the CoA…The two nominated test pilots on the CoA have had other priorities. 😊

I guess the consultation to mandate ADSB for VFR from 2028 is government speak for “it’s coming, get ready”.
I discovered an uAvionics dealer yesterday offering SE2 for $810 delivered….Should arrive Thursday

The Airservices controller on duty Sunday morning on that sector should be almost finished his remedial therapy sessions by 2028.

Spot on Skippy….
I built and flew a 2300 cc AeroVee (upgraded from 2180cc Nikasil) powered Waiex that was a ton on fun and as strong as an ox, but the lack of a 912-ULS Rotax option (at the time) dictated that our relationship would not be long-term.
The good news for existing owners is that they are so simple, that anything short of a destroyed spar cap is easily repaired or replaced.
If (when) a new owner emerges, they would be well advised to relaunch with a decent Rotax mount….I’m not convinced the high wing variant was going to set the world on fire.
