  1. I believe the 109 canopy could also be jettisoned. Rear mounted springs lifted the back of the canopy into the slipstream allowing it to detach.
  2. Mine are Norbar. Bought from a supplier in the UK (cheaper than here). The 1/4" version goes down to 10 in.lb
  3. You will need one that goes down to 20 in.lb or less for most of your work (AN3 and AN4 bolts typically). A 1/4" drive torque wrench is ideal. For prop bolts I've got a 3/8" wrench that has a much higher range (can't recall what exactly).
  4. Only until Trump hears about this new high tech export initiative from China.
  5. The 120 kt sea level LSA limit applies in the USA, but not here. The Sling has twice the fuel capacity of the RV12, although full tanks, 2 people and baggage will put it over the 600kg LSA weight limit. That won’t matter if you build it as VH experimental since it’s designed to the VLA standard which allows 700kg AUW. If it’s going on the RAAus register, you will be limited to 600kg.
  6. That's plan B.
  7. Thanks Mark, I'll keep looking.
  8. Skyshop want $15 a tube and a minimum $20 order. Last time I bought some on-line (can't recall where from now) it was about $15 for 4 tubes. And no, it wasn't last century. I know $15 is small change in aircraft dollars, but it's just the principle of the thing.
  9. Anybody know where to get torque seal for a reasonable price?
  10. This guy used what looks like strips of black cloth. Good luck! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-p-gy6NBFI
  11. Yes, there will be a lot of bi-axial bending and torsion on that connecting spar that would have been greatly reduced if they'd just connected the tails together, but no doubt they have good reasons for doing it the way they did.

  13. No point. The poll result would be zero.
  14. I was 59 and pleased to admit to being a working younger person according to the criteria
  15. I comma but lately to this thread in good faith, but sadly leaveth, never to comma here again.

  18. Maybe Ian could stock them at Clear Prop. I'd buy some if they're that good.
  19. ... if you can get it in. They're easy enough to get into soft sand, but then they don't hold much. Pretty hard to screw into dense soils.
  20. Avweb did some tests:
  21. Yes, I sure wouldn't risk my neck in it.
  22. OK, thanks Riley. Maybe someone should expand on this article then to set the record straight. It was the only reference I could find to the design, and we can't let the Brits claim ALL the credit. Thruster T600 Sprint - Wikipedia
  23. I just did the same. It's an entertaining read. In the book he says the Thruster is an Australian design, but these days they seem to be made by Thruster Airservices in the UK, who also claim the design - or the design of the T600 Sprint anyway. Is the Thruster an Australian design? Just curious. rgmwa
