  1. I don't think instructors generally make much money due to the amount of time that goes into supporting theory and ground briefings. It seems to be the passionate aviators who came from the AUF such as you Farri that are going..going..gone. The bigger schools that train and employ instructors from their own students seem to be doing okay but they are the minority I think. It's the flying clubs and regional schools which seem to be disappearing fast. What could RAA do to support those inerested in taking on the role in regional areas. One suggestion could be the supervision of new instructors using technology when there is not pracical ability for a CFI to be onsite while they work through their training. This could also help GA training which is also suffering a simmilar fate. PS thanks for you youtube vids Farri they are great.
  2. Does anyone else notice we are losing RAA instructors in regional areas and there doesn't seem to be new ones filling the gaps? Not sure about metropolitan areas but I hear it is not uncommon that people are finding it difficult to get training and bfrs. Is it too difficult to get the qualification or is just not worth it?
  3. Thanks for the reply RF guy, those budget units say they are for honey, milk oil etc, unable to find any which reference petrol.
  4. Thanks Churk, tried them recently, the website doesn't work for orders and then I found the email contact for orders very slow and suss, were keen for payment but vague detailing shipment and supply. Found reviews dating back 7 years to recent warning about dealing with them. https://www.resellerratings.com/store/Futurlec
  5. Are there any fuel flow senders available for a homebuild project which aren't $100s. Even prices for marine applications are eye watering. Any suggestions???
  6. Airpark development seems to have stopped. Are there vacant hangar blocks available in NSW? Do you know of any future council release plans for airparks? Narromine, Temora, Holbrook and Tocumwal are some I know about that seem to have gone quiet.
  7. Yes, it peaked last week. Apparently road works and levy reinforcement were required to prevent airfield inundation, that was second info hand though.
  8. A more recent image showing water encroachment around Wentworth aerodrome.
  9. Skippy, a stupid question, but how do you shield a switch in this application?
  10. Would a 1a push to talk switch be okay to run this setup? I really like it as a solution. The ptt style switch would be useful if I dropped the switch or preventing overfill fumbling with the off switch.
  11. The topic of refuelling comes up all the time at my club. It is clearly an issue for us. Something like this Rechargeable pump look okay but they are currently unavailable. Would love a trolley mounted solution so 20l drums could sit there being decanted as needed with the ability to restrict flow as the tank fills. In my experience there is no great method decanting fuel into wing tanks aircraft straight from the container. https://easyflo.com.au/rechargeable-battery-fuel-transfer-pump-with-non-spill-nozzle/
  12. The carby we need to rebuild does not have the original needle and seat, where would we get the original set up? Engine is a solid lifter 2200 2002 vintage.
  13. I would like to see the pictures. I would also think there is a benefit in the conversation that will accompany them.
  14. Looking for recommendations for someone to overhaul a jabiru 2200 carburettor. Alternatively someone who has a serviceable 2nd hand unit for sale.
  15. Thanks for responding to the question......hard to get a response on subject with this lot! A friend of mine made an incorrect position call going to a nearby airfield they had never flown to and was failed. They had to do the entire 90min check flight again.
  16. I don't have an instructor, I am asking a question based on others experiences. I am talking about the intital test/checkride for initial issue of a restricted RPC.
  17. What is generally involved in the checkride/flight test for the approval of the RAAus pilot cetificate?
  18. I am curious to know if a direct drive prop will increase rpm as it starts moving forward or if maximum rpm is achieved while the aircraft is chocked? I have never done a static full power run.
  19. I don't see outrage at your feedback, many members of this forum are also RAAus members so it is not unreasonable that RAAus could acknowledge concerns when they are raised here or any other forum. The problem is not your observations of the presentation, which at the end of the day are your opinions. The problem is many of your opinions are shared in vary degrees by those of us who fly, instruct or maintain as RAAus members and have long felt a disconnect between the organisation and our activities.
  20. I am glad the alternate view has been sent to RAAus. It is no suprise the content is endorsed. I thought it was the least irrelevant of the series, I watched all podcasts. I found that they were long, full of opinion, repetitive and in some spaces disconnected from the experiences of recreational pilots I know. I think safety month was a missed opportunity to connect with the members because I don't think they understand who many of their members are. Most members are responsible, safety concious and make smart choices often.
