Just thought I would resurrect this again for a laugh especially seeing we have had so many new people join the forums lately:
Take the quiz and find out what aircraft you are
-
Ozzie, keep your eye out on the bottom of the forums page for the great work that Kaz does by adding events into the event calendar here

Dear La Crapp (and all other Jabiru owners)
Please accept my most humble apologies for my "lack of thought" comment that I made about this magnificent type of aircraft called a Jabarue (??? spelling)
Regards
Ian
(he who has log book endorsement on a Jabawoo)

PS - Can you help me out here Pelorus 32?
-
-
Just do a search here on Jabiru to find the dipsticksNo Chris.Have a look on the jabiru website for the paper on Dipsticks, which shows them all and the levels to which they are to be filled. This has also been discussed extensively in other posts here, so suggest that you do a search.
- sorry Cap't I just couldn't help myself...Ian runs away in fear of being "mass murdered"

Hmmm again! - if you read it, it says:The 5 times the price was based on that converted to aussie dollars at today's rate plus 10% GST! Actually, it's closer to 4x when I use a calculator rather than my head, but that is still a big difference.Surely, you can do better than $15 for one when they can do THREE for US$7?4 Spill proof bags for urine or vomit
What you need to do is:
1. Read the description
2. Add the extra shipping cost
3. Add the extra cost of conversion your bank will charge you on your credit card
3. Use a calculator
If you do the calculations you will most probably find that they cost about the same but the important thing is that Clear Prop pays for these forums to keep it free for you. So if you prefer to support a US company instead of these forums then I guess it is an alternative for you Basscheffers
-
Umm, perhaps you should look at the address of themLooks like it does, but a wee bit more expensive. Just about 5 times the price, though! I think Ian should look for a different supplier. :)
- that is in US dollars and they are located in the USA plus where do you get the 5 times the price thing:http://www.clearprop.com.au/index.php?target=products&product_id=30389

But, while I am here I will help you to stop all your chooks turning into emus and..."I'm trying to find Captains pen of his auntie, I've heard that the Riverland girl may have taken it and might be trying to pass it on to you. -
Thanks Mate - now fixed

i have been told on a few occasions when flying my Vampire at Hoxton and Cessnock, that when people have heard my radio calls, they have been on the lookout for something turbine powered, and flying at 200kts!
- Ultralights, perhaps you need a loudspeaker and a cd playing for the right sound effects - that will confuse them even more as you cut crosswind over the club house -
Actually happened - the Cap't didn't notice the pitot (I think it was) covered by a piece of tape to stop the water getting in whilst it was being washed - I think that is how the story goes - in any case aircraft crashed and killed all
-
This time last year I caught a train from Turino (Italy) to Paris and waiting at the station for the train I needed to visit the station amenities - a room with just a hole in the floor - I took each step in there very carefully, wouldn't want to slip over :raise_eyebrow:

My apology for not responding to this a lot earlier then this - thanks for the offers - especially to you Spriteah, I did give your offer some very serious consideration
and djpacro, maybe the Gazelle might learn some new tricks if it hung out with some aeros - would be cool seeing a Gazelle used in some aerobatics
The Gazelle is still at Ballarat for another few more weeks and then it may, if not sold, live for a while at Bacchus Marsh.
Thanks again guys, extremely appreciated!
Gee I gotta get back up into the sky again

1. Gazelle, Thruster or Trike
2. Jab 120
3. Jab 230
4. Millennium Master

Problem with working is that I got half the post typed and had to go away to a meeting and when I came back, finished the post and submitted it - I can now see others have posted in that time - thanks guys!

Ok All
I only have the evenings and very early mornings to do any work on the site so things are now progressing slowly and if I run out of time they have to stay in limbo until the next moment I can get.
I have been trying to clean up the news area and on Tuesday night I started splitting the news and adding more news resources. On Wed morning I realised that I hadn't included an "exclude" for the International News forum in the "New Posts". This is why you are thinking it is intermittent Cap't.
The "Exclude" command of both the Aust News and the International News forums has now been added to both the "New Posts" and the "Today's Posts" buttons so you won't see the news items included when you manually click either of these to get the latest or today's posts.
Some users have created a shortcut to the latest posts on their own PC. This shortcut would now NOT include the "Exclude" command. To continue using your shortcut you will need to update it to:
http://www.recreationalflying.com/forum/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=33,89
The problem with using a shortcut is that if anything changes here then your shortcut may become incorrect and hence cause problems such as what has happened. If you do ever find an issue then please let me know so I can assist you to fix it.
Hope this helps!
PS - I am still tinkering with the news items but it is mainly in the formatting etc.

John
I just rang Bruce Stark to find out for you but he is in Italy and leaving there today. However, I have asked that he check here on Sat when he arrives back to see it this has been suitably answered for you from other channels and if not then to respond with an answer for you.
-
If I click on "New Posts" on the blue horizontal menu I don't get any of the news items listed as they have been removed from there some time ago.
Can you tell me what you are doing, clicking etc so I can find out what is happening - there shouldn't be any news items listed and they are only searchable from within the news forums themselves.

Could it be that it will come down to a pricing alternative - perhaps a flyaway price of $49k
-
While you are at it Richard, just check the fuel pump serial number with the recall:

and they are still yet to realise the crappy captian's new title from some time ago
-
Ah, maybe yes BUT there is one thing that is completely different between the two - the better cars have FORD written on the sticker along the top of the windscreen

I started learning in a LSA Jab at Point Cook - it was windy and I felt it was to hard and I wasn't enjoying it - with the aircraft type and the wind I wasn't learning to fly, just fighting the aircraft and wind and not enjoying it. The Jab was a proper aircraft to me then, the unlearned noobe as it had flaps so it must have been a real aircraft compared to the Gazelle.Im a bit different to most, i think the harder to fly the better it is for training.. The idea is we want to train pilots, not train people how to flyI was about to give learning to fly away as a big joke when my wife convinced my to try elsewhere in an easier aircraft. I went to Shepparton and started in the Gazelle - after the 1st hour I was having fun - it was great - I kept going and then after I got my certificate I went back to Pt Cook and mastered the Jab and the windier conditions. Later I then became certified in the CT.
If you stick with the word "Fun" and matching the aircraft/instructor/location to the student's capabilities (not their wants or the instructor's wants) many students may continue on learning to fly and it WILL be a natural progression for the student to get into harder aircraft becoming better pilots but if they don't then they will still enjoy flying recreational aircraft in an easier one but still flying properly if they have just simply been instructed correctly.

Funny you should mention that, I am starting to look out for a new aircraft for myself - a new Recreational Flying Flagship that would look good in the site header.
