1940 WW2 ............ and Churchill was aluding to the US army that they might not be ready for any future military conflict

- the us army tried to counter such allegations and to generate the image of strength; in a highly publisized military exercise in Louisiana between ill trained blue and red forces

- one unwanted outcome was concerned a GI from the red force raising a broomstick to simulate a rifle

- pointing at a blue GI and shouting 'bang you are dead'

- The blue Gi's reply was 'No i'm not - I'm a tank'
