There would have to be I reckon but a ring around or list  is what's needed.. Tail wheeled Planes are More difficult to Insure for obvious reasons.  Nev

GA tail wheel training would seem to be more common - try the GA schools. Likly cost more. The endorsement still counts.😈

Can I get an raaus endorsement with a ga instructor.  The cfi at Traralgon is raaus and ga but the only taildragger there is his VH registered decathlon.

Nev can a ga / raaus instructor do my endorsement in a VH aircraft.

Otherwise I guess I can wait until I get my plane here I suppose and do it in that.

At the time of my tail wheel training I was a lapsed PPL.

It turned out, to my surprise, that by doing the training, I also obtained my GA BFR ie became a current PPL.

It may be a GA licence (even lapsed) may be the key - something for you to investigate with RAA😈

I Know it automatically Transfers VH to RAAus but I can't see how You could be sent solo without a student Licence i(at Least) in a VH plane. I had a Period of no flying and no licence was valid so I was issued with a Student Licence to Fly Both Types of  B 727 to Permit me to get qualified again.. Nev

Those Licences are Permanent You Just Need the right Medical and BFR and the endorsement could be the BFR. Austers might Be More Plentiful than The Citabria or a Super Decathlon. The Last 2 are Aerobatic.  Nev

You would need to convert your RPC to RPL quite straight forward.

You need an ASIC to apply for RPL.

Get a medical, a class 5 is quite straight forward.

Do a flight review in a GA plane which could be a tailwheel and get signed off for flight review and tailwheel endorsement at the same time.

Give RAAus a copy of your RPL with TW endorsement and they will add it to your RPC (and update your BFR expiry date and give you group G if you ask for it).

Some (most?) of the GA flight schools want you to do 5 hrs-ish before a flight review.

Not quite southern NSW, but Wings Out West are based at Dubbo. They had a Cub at Parkes which was RA-AUS registered.

THAT would BE BS IF you were Current. They can want what they like but if you perform OK then that's it. I would say such behaviour should be frowned on. IF you want to Hire and take away one of their Planes that is another Matter. You Don't HAVE to do a BFR in the plane you fly the Most either. Any endorsement can be a BFR. That's specifically Mentioned.

Others May Have Posted as I was Compiling this. Please take that into account. for clarity..Nev

The only trouble with that is I would have to go and stay there for a few days . I don't have the spare time unfortunately.

I assume this is about a number of GA schools wanting 5-ish hours before a flight review if you are coming from a RPC.

It is competancy based.

If they feel unsure about your skillset they could ask you to perform exercises that take longer than 5 hours.

You are going to need a few hours to get up to speed on a tailwheel anyway so this should cover it (at a GA hourly rate 🙂 )

RAAus endorsement is about 5 Hours but for a few People that is an Imposition. That includes passenger carry Tuition and Pax Briefing etc The BIG deal was in  relation to High drag Planes where the speed decays rapidly when the Engine Quits. Today there is Less and Less of such Planes around and you could go your entire U/L career without having to fly one. Same with a tailwheel to some extent. You DON'T HAVE to fly them. Nev

I have bought a zodiac taildragger.

I think I will contact my club and organise to do it in that. It will be the cheapest option if I can do that.

Sport Aviation - Tocumwal.  https://sportaviation.com.au/power_flight/index.php

Friend did his TW in Eurofox 2K there, about a year ago. I imagine it's still there.

Try https://www.sportaviation.com.au/power_flight/index.php

Their planes have constant speed props so you could get that endorsement as well.

I drive up to WIngs out West from Victoria. It's well worth the 10 hour drive to train with Dan and Coops in the Legend Cubs.

Only problem is you will want a Cub of your own
