Its a pity that the spitfire doesn't have squat switches on their undercarriage.

Usually the weight has to come off them for the downlock to be unlocked. Maybe military planes don't have it. It only takes a bump for them to come up then anyhow. The squat switches usually operate a lot more things than blocking the retract function. Beechcraft have the two switches close together and frequently have the gear retract after landing instead of the flaps for the same reason as this plane. How would you feel if you did it?? Not a good day. nev
