Note it was RAF Mildenhall:

 

For some legal or legislative reason, the USAF didn't or couldn't have Air Force bases of their own in the UK. So they were designated as RAF bases, and would have one RAF officer posted to them to complete the picture.

 

My other thought was what we already know: there's no saying what some folk will do once they get a few beers in them.
