My sympathies are with his family and the community at this time... horrible tragedy.

Nothing much stated in those prelim reports. Night flying can be quite hazardous, and occurrences that would be of no import in normal circumstances, become critical at night. Very sad when a student who would no doubt have had aspirations to go much further ends this way. Eternal vigilance peeps. Nev
