2025-11-20 Evening Update for IOR app, When I look in the IOR app on my phone it now shows Expires 2034-11-30 so maybe its updated itself??
-
I got the same message today, not sure where i am supposed to get a new code for the IOR app from. When I go to Ra-Aus there is only IOR Registration, but I had already registered some time ago for the current expiring discount. Can someone in the know with IOR or Ra-Aus explain to members what is expected?

Hi Headwind, I have a J160 and find its easy to operate the brakes and yoke, most Jabirus have a centre of cabin U shape yoke and when needed you put your hand through the U shape and operate the brakes and just angle your elbow slighly to push the yoke left or right as needed. Strange as it looks If you try it you will find its quite easy, its all a one hand operation leaving your left hand free.

Hi RossK, I found it .."Section 5 Unauthorized Aircraft Movements – Aircraft entering our circuit area without prior approval will be charged a penalty of $1500.00". Even more crazy over the top wording regarding banned aircraft.. hmm very strange to bury all of this low down on the web page. You think if this was a real issue it should be in the ERSA as aircraft flying nearby would not have examined the terms and conditions at Tooradin if they have no plan going there. I personally doubt they could enforce such a fine for travelling overhead or past, maybe a solicitor/lawyer on this site could confirm if enforcement was even possible as there is no clear notification in the official goverment document called ERSA.

Looking at YTDN on the ERSA it shows the web site as www.ytdn.com.au and that does not work as the site cannot be found, maybe updating the web site perhaps. Anyhoo if you go to the original address and fees: https://tooradinairport.com.au/rates-charges/ valid from Rates and Charges effective from 1st of January 2024. There seems to be "Aircraft Landing and Movement Charges per 1000 MTOW", and maybe we are called "Private Itinerants" and for RA people I assume the group "Single Engine Piston". The price listed is $15.95, i assume per landing maybe, and an extra charge if you park or pick up a passenger. RossK can you still get to the Tooradin web site you saw this message? and what web site is it?

Jabiru J160c - Are there any gathering dust?
JabiruWeekendWarrior replied to Rapture's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Hi Dave, thanks for answering my post about further information, not sure if already asked on another thread... prices, Currently 22/02/2025 Jabiru advertise their Gen4 Four cylinder engine for $22,990 inc GST and that's AUS dollars from a AUS company so not subject to exchange rates. The 100/110hp Zonsen engine, what exchange rates will the AUS dollar be up against for import and pricing? What price is the 100/110hp Zonsen engine likely to sell for in AUS dollars inc GST at current exchange rates (late Feb 2025)? -
Jabiru J160c - Are there any gathering dust?
JabiruWeekendWarrior replied to Rapture's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Hi Dave, As a J160C owner I have four questions as the J160c is a bit weight restricted. 1. What is the ballpark figure for the 100Hp carby engine with all its required hang on parts to make the aircraft engine functional, mount, exhaust, spinner, radiator, propellor to suit and maybe cowl modifications? 2. Will a digital display like EMS be required if the aircraft only has steam gauges? 3. I assume the 100HP engine will be heaver than a standard Jabiru setup, how much ballast will need to be put in the tail? 4. Does the engine cowlings need modification for the different engine shape? -
Hi fellow forum viewers I have received an interesting email from Microair. The email says 'INTRODUCING THE NEW ADS-B UPGRADE FOR YOUR T2000SFL TRANSPONDER'. If you go to their web site and look at the brochure it says: The new T2000ADSB transponder delivers seamless integration of Mode A/C with ADS-B functionality. With an inbuilt GPS position source and altitude encoder, the T2000ADSB redefines simplicity and affordability. https://www.microair.aero/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/T2000-ADSB-Brochure.pdf I know Mode-S ADS-B is backward compatible with Mode A/C. I'm a little puzzled and sure many people out there will know the answer, I do not see any reference to Mode-S in the brochure. If Mode-S is not part of this Transponder does that mean it does not use a unique code for the aircraft?

Converting paper to digital
JabiruWeekendWarrior replied to Peter_from_Melbourne's topic in Just Landed - Welcome
Hi Terry a small correction to my earlier post, the EFB programs can be downloaded using the Apple App Store that is a program supplied with iPads, not the actual retail Apple store at shopping centres. -
Converting paper to digital
JabiruWeekendWarrior replied to Peter_from_Melbourne's topic in Just Landed - Welcome
Hi, I would use Apple iPad as it is more stable mature system and you need internet 4G connections (cellular) requiring a data plan with Telstra or Optus to allow route planning/change with wind recalculation and information gathering like eAWIS , ERSA while airborne. There are many stores but as an example JBHIFI have Apple iPad 64GB Wi-Fi + Cellular (Space Grey) [9th Gen] $699 ok if only using as an EFB and not filing it with family photos and music otherwise you need an 256GB at $929 iPad to gain more memory. The actual EFB two main brands OzRunways $109 Year & Avplan EFB $119 Year available from the apple store. I hope this helps a little. -
Turbulence in Summer
JabiruWeekendWarrior replied to Bridgy89's topic in Student Pilot & Further Learning
Kyle, I fly a Jabiru j160 around Victoria and New south wales a lot during the summers. I would suggest fly early in the morning and above 5 thousand before the thermals take hold while the ground warms up. -
So you think you can fly? RC skills
JabiruWeekendWarrior replied to Litespeed's topic in Remote Control
As an RC pilot in my younger days I find the control of the model quite impressive.. It Possibly only recently achievable with D.C speed control and light weight motor and batteries. -
Plane crash at Yarram Victoria
JabiruWeekendWarrior replied to Happyflyer's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
I learned to fly at Tooradin with the two J170 regos are 5215 and 5228, under CFI Eugene Reid /Ian Loveridge. These have EFIS dash panel and were always J170s. The J160 damage and rebirthed as a J170 is a different aircraft, it happened in the time I was a student. The aircraft dash panel retained its steam gauges. I found the J170s to fly quite fine and no issues, last time I flown 5215 was around October last year.
