Mine was worse when l ran my 503 in after l rebuilt it excess oil came out the exhaust and went all over my new sinks same color as yours the yellow is the hardest to clean anyway hope you have a lot of fun in your machine they are a great aircraft to fly.

Looks Great Bacon as far as the oil you will have to live with it l have tried all sorts of cleaning products to get the oil of mine but the stain wont go . cheers Geoff.
  4. Go to a lame and get him to remove the prop check it and refit he will write up a report for you to send in .
  5. Its coming along slowly doesn't look real pretty dings a bumps all over the aluminum that's what you get trying to rebuild an old aluminum aircraft but it will be structurally sound that's the most important thing the paint will hide the ugly bits. Enjoy your flight, lucky bugger. cheers Geoff.
  6. Hi it looks like the latest fuel pump that rotax have just bought out CPS sell them l have heard that some of them over pressurize the fuel system . l was going to replace mine with one of the new ones but decided to go with the original peirberg pump. cheers Geoff. Here is the link http://www.rotaxparts.net/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=1333
  7. Hi Phil Finished the roof off last night with the roof riveted in place plus the z brace it is so strong there now didnt put the small window in yet may be later ,l can now paint all of the fus . l am going to re skin the doors and try and bubble them out a bit. l gave the drifter a pressure wash today it was cover in dust kick up by all the tractors in the orchard looks new again . soon as the runway is cut l will be airborne the neighbor wants to cut it for hay so l have been waiting patiently, other wise l would of slashed it myself. cheers Geoff.
  8. Hi Phil Yes all done except 7v3-1 it is still 125 thou. cheers Geoff.
  9. Hi Phil Yes there are upgrade to the wing the wing attachment has gone from 125 thou to 1875 thou. 7v2-6 was 25 thou to 32 thou 7v3-2 has a doubler which is 32 thou. Cheers Geoff.
  10. If it was a sick animal like the RAA is we would put it down and rear a new one no good wasting money on a lost cause. Start fresh .
  11. Hi Phil l have started building the roof l have changed my mine and l am put aluminum one on instead of the lexan l going to put a small window in the center for some visibility . Later on once it is finished and flying l will change a few things do some testing with and with out slats and VGs l will make a beany mod and fill in the gap between the wings ,and l might also change the horizontal stabilizer . But first l want to get it close to the original plans as l can to see how it flys. cheers Geoff.
  12. Yes all those lighter weight aircraft no plastic fantastic.
  13. YES bring back the good old days im in couldn't be any worse whats going on now . rag and tube only ..
  14. Hi Phil Have rebuilt many two stroke and four stroke engines over the years its not hard just follow the specifications exactly when rebuilding ,one of the most important things make sure everything is spotlessly clean slightest bit of grime will destroy your work . l finished the rear wing mounts they are all bolted on ready for painting ,l also put the Z bracing in between them it has really stiffen up that weak area. Have you got a price on the engine set up from Tom. cheers Geoff.
  15. l will stick to landing on my grass runway Met and leave the river bed landing to the Yanks. cheers Geoff.
  16. Lets try with this nose wheel aircraft.
  17. Hi Phil It is a a reasonable job to do depends on how yours is riveted as mine had some bolts in them which made it easier. l will reload the pics.
  18. Hi Phil The plans say to put the wing rear mount on the inside but this 701 was made with it on the outside. The 5083 l am using has a shear strength of 27600 psi . You should use the 125 thou and change yours . cheers Geoff.
  19. Hi Phil l dont have that contact anymore but will keep an eye out for one. Where does your rear wing mount touch the wing inside or out of the mount. l made the new rear wing mounts today l have some pics of them sitting in place. l have found an other fault with this 701 one wing between the mounts on the wing is 700mm the other one is 690 mm so the 10mm difference is a lot when l put my new mounts on l measured the fuse and couldn't work out why there was a difference between each side as l made them exactly the same as what l took off didn't realize that it was already wrong . cheers Geoff. 20. Hi Phil Will you go two or four stroke . l have removed the rear wing mounts from the fuse and l am replacing them with 5083 200 thou aluminum plate bit of an over kill but better than the 90 thou that was there it was for the 503, with the 912 they had to upgraded it ,it ties in all that top frame area so they do a lot more than just hold the wing that whole area is in compression when in flight. Its the same aluminum l used for the for the nose leg attachment. cheers Geoff.
  21. Hi Marty If you are building under the 19 category you don't need to have inspections done but if you are a first time builder it would pay to have a second pair of eyes check over your work . It needs to be inspected on completion by Lame to have the report done for RAA rego take heaps of photos during the build.
  22. Hi Phil When your next to your 701 could check what size your rear wing mount on the fuse is mine is 90 thou the old one the new plans show 125 thou.so l am going to replace it l need to find some 6061 T6 125 aluminum. Painted the horizontal stab today plus the top part of the fuse that joins the stab. cheers Geoff.
  23. Hi Phil Started painting today didn't get chance on the weekend went to Yarram and went for a fly in a light wing was good l was hoping to go in the savannah buy the cfi was booked out. How did you go diving get anything . Here are a couple of pics of the slats and ailerons l will give them a second coat.
  24. Hi Phil The spare motor is a 503 l bought it off a guy on this site that said it had done 200hrs was great condition when l got it home l pull it down to check everything and found it had one piston had grabbed wrecked the piston and barrel .say no more. You have good weather this weekend for diving ,l will be get high on paint fume this weekend then l can start assembly then it should start to look like an aircraft. cheers Geoff.
  25. Hi Phil l got all the paint yesterday to start painting on Saturday its going to off white with home bush red elevators and slats all two pack,l have been moving everything around in my shed so l can make a spray booth, l got my Easy riser down from the roof so l don't get over spray on it and found a rats nest inside the wing another job. My barrels and pistons came today so l can rebuild my spare motor for my Drifter. what are you doing about you engine mount. cheers Geoff.
