Hi Marty l got my wing tanks through this site plus some other parts that come up now and then its a great . The sav wing tanks fit really nice into the wings l sat them on some foam strips which have sticky on one side they are fuel resistant l bent up some brackets to hold the tank in place riveted all in similar to the 701 plans ,l will see if l can find some pics for you. Because my was one of the first here in OZ it was only designed for the 582 but had a 912 when l got it so l have had to pull it all apart to do all the upgrades to get it up to the weight category and strength to suit the 912 , it would of been quicker to build a new one from scratch. Plus the front fire wall was really damaged so l have had to rebuild it also, my has a 750 nose wheel leg on it now and l have beefed up all of the components it should last especially on my rough strip. l still have a bit to go l am hoping to have it finish just after winter. Good to swap ideas on this site l have learnt a lot off the other 701 and savy builders on here . If you read Marks building dairy on the sav you will pickup some great knowledge. Hi Phil Have check the earths it is in the trigger coils not sure if the case is to old for the new ignition system ,its like the timing is out runs perfect on one ignition soon as l switch the other one on it runs rough swapped everything over and all of the bits are working properly always comes back the bottom trigger coil no adjustment they are set, new cdi modules might be to advanced has me baffled. is like they fighting against each other . cheers Geoff.

Hi Phil Went to do an engine test after rebuild but starter motor wont turn engine over to much compression will have to pull start off must be a bit sad hasn't got enough grunt l have a spare problem with the 701 l have to remove the engine from the aircraft to remove the starter motor the mount is in the way bad design . Have you done any more to your motor installation. cheers Geoff.

Its a choice depending on your situation doesn't matter to the engines operations.

Hi Phil Not sure what part you mean, l have lord mounts between the chrome moly and the aluminium mount. Post a pic so l can check it out . Cheers Geoff.

Hi Met l am doing it at Yarram great plane to fly the only problem l had was l had my feet on the toe brakes when coming in to land one wheel grab on touch down l will have to get used to toe brakes, you should fly the fox over there one weekend . cheers Geoff.

Hi EK the window is at the wing strut attachment on the leading edge strut on the wing. This is the reason l have done it just to check it easy so hopefully this doesn't happen cheers Geoff.

Hi Phil No l haven't heard the cause of the crash but with such an experienced pilot it has to be mechanical failure of some sort,we have to be so vigilant building these aircraft any simple mistake can cause tragedy . cheers Geoff.

Hi Phil Yes got to get working on the 701 just waiting for my brakes to come, fitted the nose wheel and new Tyre today also made inspection windows for the wing strut attachments just to keep an eye on things inside . After losing Wayne Fisher l am extra cautious on everything now what a waste of a great pilot and great guy shouldn't of happened used to speak to Wayne a lot when l used to build my drifters . cheers Geoff.

Hi Phil Yes l did go flying in the Sav fly's great it takes getting used to the long nose handles really well easy to fly if the 701 flys as good l will be very happy going again on the 6 of April get some more lessons in the Sav. Have you got your parts yet for your engine mount and cowl . cheers Geoff.

Hi Met farm strip is 200mts you will have to work getting in its only one way in and out, easy with the drifter but got to be on the numbers in the Fox . cheers Geoff.

Hi Phil Still coming along slowly hoping to start the 912 on the weekend see how it runs after the rebuild,got the new nose wheel and tyres still wait for my brakes fitted most of the instruments . Been playing with the Drifter rebuilt another 503 for it to much to do never enough time, going to Yarram on the weekend to fly a Savannah . Don't think l will be able to get to Natfly this year. Going to Farm World tomorrow. Hi Met Glad to hear the fox flys well been awhile in the making it will good to see you over here we have the 1000mt runway at Lardner for you . Cheers Geoff.

l use some mild detergent scrub it as much as l can then pressure wash the entire aircraft once dry spray and rub in with rag .

l use about 500mls to do all top surfaces.

l have used aerospace 303 protectent on my drifter skins for the last couple of years and they are as good as new l spray it on every three months and rub it in with a rag .

Thanks Phil more sheets than l thought would be used in the build. Ordered my nose wheel and Brakes today got a price from skyshop in Queensland and it was cheaper with shipping to buy from the US . cheers Geoff.

l take off a full power 6800 climb out then cruise 5200.to 5800 have always done it, 6800 is max rpm for rotax 503 they are in the rotax specs.

Hi Phil Here is an update on my progress l am mounting the engine now as l have finished the over haul when it sits on the mount it looks like it has heaps of off set but if l measure from the firewall to each side of the gear box flange it is 5mm shorter to the left. not sure how they calculate best position., l have some pics see if you can pick it don't laugh at my wheels front has duels that's all l could fined to set the engine on till l get my new set. cheers Geoff.
