Ultravia Pelican PL experimental two seat with 912ULS motor
effinqueue posted a classified in Aircraft
Pelican PL Project Experimental two seat with 912ULS motor Engine and airframe 855 hrs Build year 2000 Previously registered with RA-Aus Composite fuselage with aluminium wings and empennage Repairs to landing gear, fuselage and RH wing have been done after a heavy landing a few years back. Gearbox was overhauled by L2 repairer because of prop strike. Motor is very good and running on condition with a refurbished Warp Drive propeller and new hub and spinner. There are some new polycarbonate windows and skylights already cut to size but it will need a new screen - I have the old one for a template. I’ve always made sure to run it often while the plane has been grounded also it’s been stored in a shed to help prevent sun damage. New radiator plus hoses all over - new oil, fuel and silicone coolant hoses just fitted. New exhaust springs I had intended to paint and finish it, but my body has recently had some issues so now it’s time to part and hopefully someone wants to finish it off Comes with the original construction manuals, logbook, Bose A20 headphones and custom made cover. Video of recent running engine and more images available at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1IT_dNuKfR-VzRgHDriEA02ck1zoxTeSk?usp=sharing Located Kuranda - far north qld Martyn -
Yes it is certainly possible. In fact my Pelican was originally built as a tail wheel then converted to tricycle before being sold to the fellow I purchased it from. The fuselage is built with 2 channels for the landing gear to be mounted - a forward one for tailwheel and rearward one for tricycle. There's a steel rod at the rear for mounting the tailwheel.

Sorry but he's the only one I have ever dealt with in regards to the legs. You might try searching some New Zealand based forums or Facebook groups perhaps as there were a few Pelicans flying over there in the past. All the best

I did end up getting some legs from a fellow in Brazil named Gerson Martinez He runs a flying school. I think it's near Sao Paulo. You can get him on WhatsApp or search for his school online. He may have some parts or at least have contacts because I think he still uses pelicans as trainers. Best of luck

Hey thanks for confirming this. I have a small approx 150mm long skinny stub aerial on top so as Glen mentioned most likely UHF. I'll be reconnecting the broken coax with BNC connectors. That should work OK do you think? I'll find someone to check the SWR before use. Anything else I need to consider?

I have a Pelican PL which has a composite body with aluminium wings. I'm halfway through repairing damage to the bottom of the fuselage. I won't go into how it was damaged at this point but as well as damaged fibreglass it has cut both the coax cables to each antenna. I have both the normal VHF comms radio and also a UHF unit fitted. Both were fitted by the previous owner. There is a dipole type and also a stub type at the top with it's ground plane attached underneath inside the plane. I don't know which radio was connected to which antenna. Does it matter? Should I just ditch the UHF?

I'm in need of some parts for my plane and someone said I should contact Bob Magnolia. I think he may be in North Carolina. He replied and said he has what I need. Just wondering has anyone here dealt with him before - is he reliable? I'm in Australia and he said he wants payment by wire transfer which kinda rings alarm bells for me.

Hi there Franco Just had a quick browse on your facebook page and your place there looks great what with all your lovely plants and flowers everywhere. Those drifters look like a lot of fun. I trained with Ron Watson in Innisfail and he pointed out your place once when we were on a nav to Gordonvale and the tablelands. Sorry bout the short message but getting late after a big day at work - I'll get back to you soon.

Similar - at their thickest they're about 1.5 inches Here's mine with the fairings on so to be clear, are there are no parts available? How can I contact Serge and/or his company? Emails I have sent previously have bounced back. Thanks

Anybody here own or fly a Pelican PL or know where I can get some main landing gear legs for one? They were a Canadian kit years back and since been taken over by Ballard Sport Aircraft in Quebec - have had no luck e-mailing or calling them Home

Hello my name is Martyn - just joined today. Live in the deep north of QLD in a little village called Kuranda just west of Cairns. Used to be a motor mechanic but now work in Cairns in a shop selling bearings, tools, car parts and hydraulic hoses among other things. I own a RA-Aus registered Pelican PL which was built a while back by a guy in Ayr and I'm hoping for one thing to hook up with other Pelican owners on here. Have been browsing the forums for a while so decided now's the time to log on.
