  1. no headwinds today so i did 60 knts everywhere at 16.6 lph 6000rpm. a lot of fuel but pretty good for a 618 i think. hks would be down around 10 lph. paying for fuel doesn't bother me . its range that i want.

  2. Fast aircraft have to be a lot faster to make a real difference on a long trip. The main advantage with the gazelle would be fuel economy if that is something that concerns you. Fit your HKS turbo to the xair and there would not be much difference in speed, range between the them. I am minding a Skyranger with 100hp rotax in my shed atm, they are a great all-rounder if you can only have one aircraft.

  4. Folding the wings every time doesn't help a Gazelle. On a Hot day It won't go very high either. It might Bore you after a little while.. It WAS a Popular trainer for a Long time. Nev

  5. A Gazelle is almost TOO easy to fly, but don't overspeed it. Nev

  8. it's not about what everyone else loves it is what you will be happiest owning and flying. I thought I would use AI to get some more information. There were only 66 Skyfox CA25N Gazelles ever made, 61 were sold in Australia and the other 5 overseas. This does NOT include any that were made after 1996 which was apparently when the factory was closed and reopened under new ownership. The new owners apparently built 3 with 1 being sold and the other 2 being used for parts because they could get more money for them than selling them new. most of this information came from Wikipedia and the Queensland air Museum according to Chat GPT. Interestingly they were about 3 times more X-Air aircraft sold in Australia, probably because they were cheaper and could be kit built ?

  9. might have to talk to the hangar landlord, might be able to squeeze a gazelle in with the wings folded. getting cold feet about parting with the xair.
