In 1941/42, during WW2, the Pan Am Boeing 314 flying boat, “Pacific Clipper”, was unable to return to the USA from New Zealand by the short easterly Pacific route because of the Japanese invasion of the Pacific. It therefore was forced to return to the USA by the longer westerly Atlantic route. It thus unintentionally became the 1st passenger airliner to fly around the world. Come see how this came about, and learn a bit about the history of the many former seaplane bases it had to fly through. Hope you enjoy. Cheers.
