I have purchased a Six Aviation Bluetooth Headset Interface for my David Clark headset.
When switched on, it announces its on, however I have yet to hear anything from the system its Bluetooth connected to.
My iPad shows its connected to the Six
Couple of questions;

  • How can I asses its working correctly?
  • Has anyone else experince with this device? If so please share.😈

You could try listening to your favorite tunes on spotify.

Thanks Thruster88,

Not being in the first flush of youth, something like "Spotify" seems to be from an alien planet.

I don't use the Am/Fm radio in the car ( except occasionally on very long highway trips) let alone in an aircraft.

I was hoping that there may be other users "out there" who could give me the benefit of their 😈

If you have any  music on your iPad can yo play it and see what you hear.

Other than telling you it's on or off there is nothing else... unless someone rings you..

Skippy, If it's meant to announce traffic, don't you have anybody nearby you could spend some time in the air with and sort out your ADSB, Traffic etc?

In resents times (last 3 months or so) my little airfield has been sloooooow. In part weather but also reduced activity by possibly the most active of two flight schools. In short, not too many people arround.😈

I'm looking for a second headset. I was lucky to pickup my Bose A20 set for $600 but don't think that's going to happen again. I'm after reasonable quality ANR earphones without spending $2000. Does anybody have suggestions of a model they've actually tried.

Litespeed Sierra are $1300 but are 4oz heavier at 16oz.

The Faro G3 are $1165 and only weigh 9oz. Have you tried these?

I realise that noise cancelling headsets are all the rage however the extra purchase cost + parodic batteries, may not be value for $$$$.

Befor noise cancelling , passive noise reduction did the job perfectly adequately (in most cases).

Assess the noise levels in the cockpit, before making that $KK purchase, it just might be that a passive headset will do the job.

I have an old David Clark noise attenuating headset. With my last (composite) aircraft I only ever used the noise attenuation occasionally on long trips. With my new  (metal) aircraft I use it all the time.

My favorit passive headset is a Peltor (now 3M) -sooo comfortable  & lightweight😈

I did it, took a punt on a set of BH ANR from Canada.

I don't know what's going to happen when they realise they've only taken US$15 for freight. 😏

So this is about AU$965

Yes, good reviews so hopefully a good lifespan as well. It's half the price of the big name brands with the same options.

If it's coming from Canada, you'll get a revised freight charge shortly, that will floor you. Freighting anything from Canada is hugely expensive.

I recently bought some bearings from Canada. They offered two freight options on their Ebay site but only priced the Ebay-Post option. I emailed them stating that I needed them quickly and did not want Ebay-Post. They said "Just place the order and we'll put it on fast freight". They didn't, the job was finished before the bearings arrived and they had the cheek to ask for a review for which I happily obliged.

I can remember the Canada Post fuel surcharge, about 12-14 years ago, was 34%!! It's still around 14% on CP international parcels. Plus, Canada Post moves stuff at a glacial pace.

Someone has mis-typed, and left a "1" off the front, or left a "5" off the end, of the shipping figure! 😄

No response from BH Aviation in Canada. I’ve emailed and phoned, too much like dealing with the US so I’m taking a chance on AliExpress.

Cheaper and more reliable supplier. Only 9oz too, my Bose A20 are 12oz and three times the price.

Between  weather & domestic responsibilities, it's taken me quite a while to almost complete my aircrafts 200hr service . Just yesterday I was able to test my Six Aviation Bluetooth adapter again.

My thanks to BurnieM for this suggestion;

The answer is an emphatic NO! it does not transmit music from my iPad, so I guess it wont give me traffic warning either.

I will be contacting the supplier & Six Aviation later today to see what they can do for me.😈

Back researching Bluetooth headset adapters;

As far as I can Google, there are only two basic designs -

  • The two standard AA x2 battery battery types, that will transmit iPad, (traffic, music, etc) phone, (in /out calling), etc??  $240-$400 Au. About 3 offerings available.
  • The Six Aviation, rechargeable/USB  powered that will only transmit iPad (or similar) audio (traffic, music) $92 + Au

I would rather not have to carry additional AA batteries.

No interest in inflight music or phone calls.

The Six would seem to be the only option, that is unless you know of something else??

Please do not recomend a Bluetooth capable headset - I have four perfectly good headsets (one ANR) it seem crazy not to try and enhance what I have, rather than purchasing another unit.

The Six has mixed reviews, from terrific to total failure???😈
