Flight Information From The Late 1980s?

Hi,

 

I am trying to help my dad add flights to flight memory, he has quite a few flights from the late 80s up until early 2000s and we are trying to find aircraft used and flight numbers as well, i know for more recent flights i can use Flight Stats and Acars, but these don't have information for older flights, so if there is a way to find this out i would be glad to hear, otherwise is there a way i can find what aircraft airlines used to certain airports form these times?

 

And 1 last question, did Continental fly to Melbourne in 1988?
