THE Pentagon's costliest acquisition project, the F-35 Lightning 2 Joint Strike Fighter, safely completed its first test flight today, advancing a $US276.5 billion ($353.83 billion) program co-financed by the United States and eight nations."Aircraft has landed safely" after a test flight in Texas of about 40 minutes, said Tom Jurkowsky, a spokesman for Lockheed Martin Corp, which is developing three models of the radar-evading, multi-role fighter jet in an international cooperation effort.
