The temperature of the air dictates the MAXIMUM amount of moisture that it can carry at a relative Humidity of 100%. The hotter the more moisture it CAN carry before it is saturated. (IF that moisture is available). The best source is the Ocean and the longer the air MASS passes over it the more opportunity to absorb moisture. The airmass takes characteristics dependent on the place it's from and the direction of winds is determined by the  high and low pressure systems that travel around the earth and they move north-south with the thermal equator with season CHANGES. This results in PREDICTABLE( to a point) "normal" situations existing for the seasons in various  places in Australia. A big extra variable is  Sea  Surface temperatures. This allows much more energy to exist in cyclonic systems, again due to the Latent heat of Vaporisation of Water giving some cyclones an energy level equal to many N bombs /hr, fortunately without the fallout.  Nev
