Introduced to this site by a friend whom is constructing their own timber plane on which I assist from time to time. It's been great learning the process.. much like a scaled up balsa model I made as a kid. I'm guessing styrofoam isn't strong/light enough for 1:1 scale..

Not as a basic structural component I wouldn't think but it can reinforce sheet metal and ply. Hard to glue, isn't it? Nev

It's ok if you stick it to a thick enough layup of fibreglass. most composite aircraft have foam sandwich construction - but I guess it's usually not polystyrene foam but the principle is the same.
