melboune rec aviaiton airports

can't find a previous thrread on this but ......... where are some local recreational airports from Melbourne CBD

 

preferably close and maybe public transport going past (might be asking to much there)

 

I have a free day to roam this week and would like to log an hour in Vic :)

Landed at Penfield, caught the train to Southern Cross for a football match last year.

 

Need to phone the CFI for permission and fuel

Penfield sounds the best, but you got to get to the closest town for a train. ............. Tyabb is on a train line to Melbourne but it will be a good 75 mins to the CBD. Unfortunately there a NO RAA type airports close to the CBD for obvious reasons. It's always going to be more than an hour away...............

Lilydale and Coldstream are both at the end of one train line, YCEM uses a tecnam and YLIL uses jabirus ,

Bacchus Marsh is. It's about a 30- 40 min train ride into Southern Cross station.
